This thread may be a bit specific to those who collect Minotaurs, but if you have any ideas about how to use the Minotaurs symbols, feel free to let me know.
I contacted Forgeworld about the meaning of the symbols:

I have recently started a Minotaurs army, I have the relevant imperial Armour books, though am wondering what their chapter symbols mean. There is no mention of them in any of your books. I am talking about the chevrons and Greek symbols. Do they mean anything or are they just decorations? Just need to know if I should buy the decals and etched brass or just the shoulder pads! Thanks.

To which I got the replay.

Hi James

Thanks for your email. Currently there are no specific meanings behind the symbols, however they remain cool ways of customizing your miniatures.

If there is anything further we can do to assist you, or if you have any queries about the information we have requested or provided, please telephone us.

Regards,
Forge World

So I am wondering if you use a system when applying the symbols, or if you just apply them wildly. Thanks!

There's a rough system in place for them built up over the various books, and my own inference, that I've used thus far:

Red shoulder pads are for veterans; Sergeants, Stern/Van/Honour Guard. Devestators have white faceplates/helmets, Stern/Van have red faceplates. The white Lambdas are, I think, a kind of kill/missions survived counter, so my veteran units all have at least one, with Terminators having additionally black ones on their greaves. I did scatter some of the Minotaur shoulder pads across my standard marines (I don't use many, playing really low model count) and did a few freehand Minotaur heads (not easy, do not recommend) but they're by no means commonplace.

Beyond that, they don't have any real uniform iconography. There's a few Greek characters here and there on the official models, but for the most part Minotaurs aren't overly "blinged" up in the official art aside from their handful of unique models.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Thanks for all that, I knew about some of those colourings, but yeah. I am terrible at freehand so wont be attempting that haha. All my marines will have FW shoulder pads.
