If you haven’t seen it yet this is a 15mm sci-fi miniature war game that looks interesting:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/427645199/this-is-war-0?ref=nav_search

"This is WAR!" The 23rd century is a time of turmoil. The CMF or Coalition of Military Forces, (which is made up of the remnants of the old North Atlantic Treaty Organization), are embattled with the Opposition Forces, (which is a unified Russia and China), or OPFOR, for not only Earth domination, but space as well. CMF-held worlds and colonies fighting off hordes of OPFOR units, as they struggle to hang on to their territories. Battles with tracked, wheeled and sometimes grav tanks and APC’s become nothing more than tangled masses of wrecked metal, plastic and…..sometimes…..soldiers.
"This is WAR!" is a 15mm ground based tabletop miniatures game, using a d6 system, to simulate vehicle to vehicle, vehicle to troop and troop to troop combat in the 23rd century.

Units are chosen from Platoon and Company cards, and the models and figures are placed on the battlefield in accordance to the scenario. Units are "activated" one platoon at a time, alternating sides. Once the game has ended, victory points are tallied up from the backs of the Platoon and/or Company cards, and the winner is then determined.

This game simulates hand to hand combat with troops, and also hand to hand with vehicles. The game is fast paced and brutal.

Shame he isnt doing that dropship in plastic, a lot of people would love a cool 15mm plastic dropship.

Given this is your first post I would guess youre the guy running it or related to the project right? Do you know if he's consideringany of the walkers or dropships for plastic as ppotential stretch goals?

Actually I’ve lurked on this site for several years and was shocked when I tried to log in this morning and found I didn’t have an account.

Yes, I am involved with the project, and the walkers and the dropship are planned as future stretch goals should we be fortunate enough to reach them. The first targets after funding are to get the molds for both sides main battle tanks made, each will also have some options to make variant vehicles on the sprue.

The project is young and very open to suggestions and ideas if you or anyone wants to share.

Big fan of DLD's older 25mm range... I suppose that's on the backburner while the 15mm stuff is being worked on?

The 25mm line is not part of this campaign, but it will be looked at again in the future.

Hi JudgeDoug.....David, DLD Productions here......our main focus right now....is to get the 15mm line into plastic injection......all of the 15mm kits, the Dropship, tanks, APC's, MICV's, artillery, Ground Attack craft...etc......
Once that line is done and running at full production, then the 25/28's will come....but......first thing first.

For those that are curious, our mold maker is here in California.....in fact.....probably about 30 minutes from where I live....so......given that.....I can be there in a moments notice to check up on production......I like having vendors "close" to me.....makes me feel.......warm inside....
Anyway, that's the skinny.........I would REALLY love to have the entire product line in plastic.....why?

#1. No more waiting for resin to cure...or not cure.....or cure too quickly.
#2. No more air bubbles from contaminated resin.....(I SOOOOooo.......hate air bubbles!)
#3. The actual cost of the materials is WAY less expensive in plastic than in resin.
#4. Production will absolutely JUMP through the roof! (15 second cyclic rate....as opposed to 5-10 minutes......yea.....about that).
#5. The actual weight of the miniatures for shipping is SOOOoo much LESS than resin!
#6.Mold life for a rubber RTV mold is "typically" about 30-40 pours......I have managed to squeeze out a bit more...but then the break sometimes....and have to be remade......steel molds? HAAA! 500,000+ runs! AND the vendor will guarantee the mold for life! Anything happens to it...he fixes it....for FREEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#7. Well, everything above......it makes so much more sense to go to plastic injection that resin........I know.....I've been doing it for over 30+ years..............

Anyhow, please go to the kickstarter page, "This is WAR!" and take a look around....we have SOOOooo many things to release! So many........

Hey folks,.......ok.....so NOW there is 6 days left!

Please remember, this is to fund 2x steel molds for plastic injection, (one vehicle from the CMF, and the OPFOR...each vehicle can be made to make 1 of 3 different variants.), plus the rubber molds for the troops, plus rules published, printed, templates, counters, ......also plastic vs resin........$6.25 per vehicle in plastic.......vs $10 per vehicle in resin........plastic, lighter.......resin.....not so much....

It's not over......til it's over!

45 hrs left, and we have no idea how many folks clicked the "remind me later" button. KickStarter does not provide that information. So, given that, we shall see, what we shall see.

Welcome to the forum! And now, the deep end...

Gotta be honest, but, before watching any videos, I'm struggling to see what makes this stand out. Right from the title of the game - 'This is WAR!' Three things about that:
- Well, yeah. It's a wargame. Most of them 'are war'. Was there nothing a bit more original, descriptive, or thematic?
- Not just obligatory 'shouted' capital letters but an obligatory exclamation mark. I feel tired already.
- In fact that -along with the quip about tangled masses of wrecked metal, the line about 'scenarios being decided by (casualty?) victory points', and repeated mentions of 'wickedly brutal' gameplay - seems to provide the best description of the game in the text. Makes it sound like a cross between Warmachine's page 5 and some kind of 40K-style line-up-and-mash-together affair. And fair enough if you're trying to get a toehold in that kind of market, but if that's the case it seems like you're not sure how to go about it.

'Cos the rest of the initial description of the gameplay... "These rules cover vehicle and troop movement, direct fire combat, close combat between vehicles and troops, artillery and air support, and unit morale... There are various types of units such as armored vehicles, (tracked, wheeled, grav and hover), different troop types in everything from basic battle dress uniforms, to hulking power armored suits! Also included, is rules governing air operations, such as Tactical Dropships, ground attack craft, Tactical Assualt Pods and massive artillery and much more!

"This is WAR!" rule system is a d6 game, that is turn based, with initiative being rolled each turn. Armies are selected from company down to platoon or squad Army Cards. Each Army Card, states your points cost, weapon types, morale and victory points. There is a TO&E or Table of Organization and Equipment for you to select, and customize your force to meet almost any mission. A game can be simply points based, scenario based or even campaign based."

So... it's a sci-fi wargame that includes sci-fi soldiers, weapons and vehicles, that you organise into armies, move around, and whose actions you resolve with a d6. Okay. Initiative and activation sound good to me, but that's because I was doing it in Epic years ago. Is there anything else?

The minis - a couple of dark, slightly fuzzy photos of modern-looking wheeled vehicles, with muddy camo paintjobs that don't help the dark, fuzzy effect much.

The background - some near-future first-world coalition represented by an acronym vs. some near-future second-world bloc represented by an acronym, with some near-future third-world faction(s) orbiting around and one faction of mysterious aliens who have just recently appeared out of nowhere and threaten everyone. I know there's nothing new under the sun, but... this feels like it's been left out under the sun for a while.

I know I'd need to look at the videos for a fuller picture, and despite my coming off like a massive tool I am genuinely sorry that funding is falling sort at the current time; but my first impression is basically summed up as: where's the beef?

Hi Vermis,

I chose the title, "This is WAR!" because, well, some of the "titles" that were suggested to me, ("Tanks and Things!" "Future Land Battles"...etc..) were not, I should say, appealing, to me.

The game is designed so you do not have to read tomes. I wanted to make a game for the vehicles I manufacture, that was fast, and destructive. Move. Shoot. Blow stuff up.

Yes, it is a d6 game, with initiative being rolled for on each turn. I hate games where you roll initiative ONCE at the beginning of the game, and who ever looses initiative, well, has to deal with the low hand, the rest of the game. (What happened to getting the upper hand in a bad situation?)

The TO&E are the basis for building your army. You CAN customize the the Company you bring on table, to whatever you want, (within the parameters of the support card allowances.)

Unit "activation" is not governed by a die roll. Orders are given to the units BEFORE initiative is rolled for. (Fog of War). If a unit looses his Platoon Leader, then yes, the Platoon makes a die roll to, #1. See if a new Leader is picked, and #2. If a new Leader is not picked, then their order is a "stationary" type. Meaning they wait until a movement order is given by Higher Command, BUT they are not stoopid enough to not fire.

Since I do not have a professional photographer, yes, I did the photos myself, and I do appologise for the "dark and fuzzy" nature of them. I do not have the money to pay a professional photography shop to come and take pictures. I did the best I could. Sorry. If you wish, you can look on our Facebook page: dldtanks, and look through the photos there.

If you read the story line, you would understand why there are still wheeled vehicles, (and if you think about it, wheeled vehicles are cheaper to maintain than tracked, or "hover" or "grav" or "teleportation pods". Especially with the history given.)

I ask you watch the videos. You will get a better idea of the concept of the game itself. And yes, there are "aliens" and other Factions.
