Before I just painted my cultists with a few basecoat colors, shading and a few details, but now with my berzerkers I've been reading up on tutorials and diecided to actually fully basecoat, highlight, base, layer, etc my models here is my first attempt at that.

Solid result for a first Mainly I'd recommend to be a bit more bold with the contrasts, try some orange for the edge highlights and some black ink (nuln oil etc.) for the recesses. That might immediately give you some nice results.

So shade the joints with nuln oil? Should I keep the shading I did on the other parts? If I wanted to do a really dark red for the bottom half in a Brazen Beast esk color scheme wat would you recommend.

If the base colour is a (dark) red it should still shine through the nuln oil to keep you close enough with the red scheme.
The best thing would be to experiment with these contrasts. I found out whenever I could convince myself to use lighter tones for highlights and darker tones for the recesses I was more satisfied in the end.

Thanks man! In my new color scheme the head is going to be really bright in direct contrast to the body which is a much darker shade so do you think a good highlighting style would to highlight the body a bright orange because of its ability to contrast with the dark red and to highlight the head evil suns to give it a more subtle highlight to not take to much attention away from the body?
Also, the chaos gods thank you!
