Has anyone experienced something of particular amusement within a game that has tickled them? e.g. a grot killing a Bloodthirster, massed firepower failing to do any damage whatsoever, epic failures etc etc
I will kick things off with a daemon prince of Khorne that is unloved by the chaos gods...
Daemon Prince of Khorne with Axe of Blind Fury all pumped up for bloodshed charges into Commissar Yarrick to engage him in combat. Rolls on the daemon weapon table and gets a 1. The next turn he rolls a 1 again! At this point all Yarrick needs to do is fart in his face as the Daemon Prince is pretty much killing himself. Suffice to say, Yarrick does end up killing him and thus putting him out of his misery..
The next time I face that same Daemon Prince, but against my Blood Angels, my librarian dreadnought cast fear of the dark on him and the prince failed his test and ran away. When that prince came back a turn or two later he rolled high on the table for his Axe of Blind Fury, got loads of attacks but failed to do much against the dreadnought who then smacked him back with his force halberd and Instant deathed him.
Khorne must really not like him!

I was playing a small game (about 800-900 points). Tyranids vs Ultramarines. Turn 1, my Flyrant flies over to his half of the table and decimates a Dev squad with Tigurius. Tigurius and the surviving Dev run off the table. Meanwhile my Biovores waste a Tac Squad causing them to run away. My opponents turn. He moves up his other Dev squad whittled down to the Sarge and a Missile Launcher. Knowing they were about to die, and would not be abel to do anything else they charge my 20 strong Gargoyle Brood. Overwatch kills the Sergeant. The next 4 game turns consisted of my Gargoyles unable to deal a single wound, as the ML Dev smacked one to the ground each turn and my Biovores kept launching Spore mines into their midst (bad scatter off their target).
We find it amusing that a single Marine armed with nought but a missile launcher was able to hold off a Gargoyle brood for that long. Had he somehow survived until the end of the game he would have received honours of some sort.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

My favourite story (I don't have many, never played many games), it was either 4th or maybe early 5th, and I was playing Tau against some guys Orks. I'd basically lost anyway, I think I had some stealth suits and a devilfish left, so I charged my two stealth suits into his Warboss, and ended up killing him.

My blood angels were against an imperial guard army with a baneblade. My drop pod with 5 assault marines with 2 Meltaguns and an infernus pistol dropped right next to it first turn. They shot all hit then all penned then all rolled explodes result causing it to lose an extra 3d3 hull points. IT BLEW UP!

Nearly 30 games with my word bearers. No matter what units I take, or what I face, they have never won a battle. Something bad always happens to them, some bizarre stroke of misfortune. I even modelled a new dark apostle to lead them, played him as Abaddon, big unit of terminators to act as his warguard. First game they deep struck in, nothing in a 12 inch circle round them bar one attack bike, you guessed it!! Scattered 9 inches right on top of it, rolled for mishap and killed the entire squad. Abaddon and 10 tooled up terminators. In a 1500pt game. Gone. Game over. Am in the process of repainting the entire 8000pts of word bearers into iron warriors.......... Not that I'm bitter and twisted.......

I had a Dakkajet (not exactly the most armored of Flyers) survive through:
Avenger bolt cannon (heavy 7)
2 lascannons
8 heavy bolters
A multilaser
36 shots in total!

Ancient Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought
I... actually don't know. Help?
|
I had a single Khornate Marine survive:
30 Necron Warrior Rifle Shots (whatever they're called)
4 Lascannons
6 Tau Carbines
7 Bolter shots
3 Heavy Bolter shots
He died an honourable death. And by that, I mean that he charged head first into a Tau gunline.

In 6th edition, I vector striked a stormraven full of terminators and Tycho, getting 2 glances and a penetrating hit. He rolls explodes! Most termies die in the crash! Unfortunately this was after the heldrake got FAQ'd, meaning I didn't have the 360 turrent anymore, though my opponents face was classic!

I was playing in a local tournament fortnight back and threw some dice. One landed cocked, on an open and flat surface. We were so amazed that started taking pictures. That dice stayed cocked for around 10 mins.

My favorite moment with my IG was back in 6th in a free for all game with some friends (3 of us, 1 DA and the other Necrons) i was playing blob with an aegis, with 2 30man squads, after the wear and tear 1 guy left in one platoon and around 10 in the other. With this one Guardsmen i decided to push into the middle of the map as it was the last turn, and on this map we had only one objective (was essentially king of the hill). This one guardsmen survived survived shooting from 12ish necron warriors, 10 necron immortals and an annihilation barge (go to ground is a wonderful thing) and held that point for the last turn, winning me the game. the reaction was priceless and that guardsmen serves as platoon commander

Old Codexes in 5th edition: A full unit of Fire Dragons under the effect of Guide from Eldrad pops out of a Wave Serpent and unloads on a unit of GKTs.
All their attacks hit, all their attacks wound.
And my Terminators pass every single invuln save. Eldrad threw up in his mouth a little just before my Grandmaster spit him on his Halberd.

A recent one. I played a game against my opponent's Unbound CSM/Daemon army with my Blood Angels. His standard CSM terminators charged my Librarian dreadnought that was holding the objective on the last turn of the game. My dreadnought had cast the quickening on himself and hit my opponent's 4 terminators 4 times at strength 10. He rolled three 6's so passed most of his invun saves and then his terminator with a chainfist killed my dreadnought outright and won him the game.
The game ended 5-4 to my opponent. If he had not have rolled those 6's (his chainfist guy would have been destroyed) then I would have likely won 7-1...
Three bloody 6's out of four dice, that was a bitter pill to swallow

A couple months ago I charged a single Khorne Bezeker (from KDK) with a squad of 20 Kroot which had 10 Hounds, 3 Krootoxen and a Shaper... And didn't do a single wound to him and the funniest part was that he swept me in combat
