Do we have a time frame for 9th? I'm thinking about starting a WHBF army ,but I don't want to buy a a bunch of stuff if rules changes are right around the corner.

Rumors have been all over the place. People thought beginning of May, that didn't happen. Some keep saying June 12, but more substantial rumors would have leaked with pictures and stuff by now of rulebooks and everything like that.

I am guessing it will be Mid July. 8th Edition came out in July 2010, 7th Ed 40k came out last July, and 6th Ed 40k was late June in 2012. The June 12 date is probably when the big word gets released in White Dwarf and Pre-Orders go up.

Can we assume that 9th will have it's own new box set? Any work on what armies will be in it?

Once again... just rumors... know one knows.. out side of Nottingham..But it shouldn't depend on what armies are in the new main box set. It should be what armies interest you now. If you are interested in skaven or high elves.. I would check around local stores discounting the 8th edition box set, everything in it should roll over to the new rules set and its a great starter army to build on .. plus if you time it right could get it for a steal. plus 8th edition rules are not broken.. just will get an update.. As with most companies they have to keep selling stuff to stay in business.
Just the same with each edition of dungeons and dragons don't make it better.. and no one has to change systems.. Its just your product will no longer be supported by the company.

Strongest rumours I have heard put it mid-late june, early july.

Allegedly the Spess Mahreen / Emo Spess Mahreen release comes first because that's what we need, more Spess Mahreens in Metal Bawkses.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

They are not Emos. They are just a bit socially confused that's all. We leave the title of emo for DE who actually cut themselves.

Also, get all your WFB army right now off of ebay I just got 40 zombies for 40 bucks and deals are abundant every where!

No, Dark Eldar aren't emo. Emo stems from the root word "emotions" and dark eldar have none besides inflict pain & suffering. They're sadists which is kind of the opposite of the emos who want to whine cry & feel bad about themselves & poor me, nobody "gets" me. That's totally Dark Angels.

He might have meant Dark Elves. Those also kinda have the initials 'DE'.

Still applies "Rape pillage & Torture for funsies" isn't very emo. The fantasy world emo's I'd have to give it to the TK. Always trying to keep everyone out of their lives. Reminiscing in their own self pity about how big mean nagash kicked their asses to death & back.

NO ONE KNOWS.

9th edition has been "just around the corner" for what...a year and a half? I remember holding off buying Dark Elves because I was worried that they would be obsolete soon.

I want to believe that, but if the release were really just 4 weeks away then wouldn't there be all kinds of advanced media blitz, and the taking of pre-orders?

Have you been paying attention to GW in the last 3-4 years?

The first official word about a release happens only a few days before the release, with the exception of exceptionally vague teaser videos that tell you almost nothing.

40k 6th and 7th editions got announced and were up for preorder the same day. The only difference from normal was that the they got 2 weeks preorder rather than the usual GW 1 week. Anyone who thinks GW would give 4 weeks notice or even attempt a media 'blitz' are... misguided.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Not true.

7th Edition did the "There is no time for Peace" posters in stores and in the White Dwarf about 4 weeks before pre-orders.

Granted, 4 weeks is laughable, but 4 weeks before pre-orders is what we got so far.

It's the start of 9th editions release "Age of Sigmar" is not 9th in and of itself but it will likely be a 3-4 week long release series like we've seen for the adeptus mechanicus.

That's some unusually long advance marketing. I guess GW is trying to build hype instead of ambush tactics?

Age of Sigmar suggests to me an "historical" setting back when Sigmar rose to power on a suitably epic scale -- a strategic level game. It would be worth getting for campaign map and pieces Perhaps. Pure speculation of course.

Takes place post End Times.

Hopefully AoS is the skirmish system set post End Times and 9th edition is a continuation of the system.

Honestly, I just really hope my skullreapers and blightknights stay valid in the new book. I'd be annoyed if they aren't. But since they're my only real 9th investment so far, I have pretty models on my shelf if GW punches itself in the junk again.

How Lovecraftian.

They're not as poetic as he is about it, but you can't expect that from the writers at GW to be fair.
