I'm going to start and Eldar army for the days I don't feel like playing the wolves. I'm considering getting the battleforce box, it seems like a good deal that almost gets to 500 points. What do you think of the set?

Do I have something in my teeth?

What are your goals for your army? The battleforce does save you some money, but only if you use what's in it. Do you see yourself playing a list that uses guardians? That's the only real stumbling block IMHO. The viper is needed for all the hosts, and DA in a WS can fit into a number of lists.

But if you are planning on going for a bike/wraith list, it's not a lot of useable minis for you.

All of the units are definitely useable in fairly competitive lists so if you buy a HQ model you are good to go and can start playing a combined arms detachment so its good in that sense. Also Battleforces are one of the only bundles on the gamesworkshop website that actually save you any money.

I'd say the Battleforce is definitely worth it if you're going to use the Guardian Battlehost.

Outside that, you may find yourself not using the Guardians as often, and taking Dire Avengers instead. I think the Viper is still a good addition for how cheap it got with the new codex release, but you may find yourself leaving the Viper at home sometimes as well.

For a new Eldar player with no models though, it's a good buy.

You also get a Wave Serpent, right? Those are still useful models, too.

I think most of the old Battleforce boxes are great
