My LHS is having a tournament and I have two list I am considering taking. I imagine that there will be all sorts of shenanigans going on and as a SOB player and with the models I have there is little of the sort I can do. I don't have any delusions about winning, but I don't want to be a pushover and I want to have fun.

List #1, here I am just trying to bring as many Sisters as possible and build a good solid list. However I have no anti air and it is quite a basic list I have played often. A challenge, but a familiar one.

Sister Rebecca (Warlord) (Canoness): chainsword; plasma pistol; rosarius 95

Green Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60
Purple Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60
Orange Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60

Yellow Squad (10 Dominions): 4× meltagun 170
• Sororitas Rhino 40
Teal Squad (Rebecca's Squad) (9 Dominions): 4× meltagun 157
• Sororitas Rhino 40
Blue Squad (10 Dominions): 4× meltagun 170
• Sororitas Rhino 40

Exorcist 125
Exorcist 125

Saint Celestine 135

Red Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60

Celestine's Honor Guard (9 Seraphim): 2 hand flamers 145

List #2, Here I am bringing a real (not the same as my main detachment) ally in my new Knight model. It is a new sort of list for me and I have only used the Knight once before. I am torn, I really want to play the knight, but it is a lot of points in one place and part of me says a Tournament is not the place to use new stuff. But again, it would be a great opportunity to get several games in with a new setup to see if I like it.

Sister Rebecca (Canoness): The Mantle of Ophelia; plasma pistol; rosarius 120

Red Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60
Green Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60
Purple Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60
Orange Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60

Yellow Squad (10 Dominions): 4× meltagun 170
• Sororitas Rhino 40
(Rebecca's Squad) Blue Squad (9 Dominions): 4× meltagun 157
• Sororitas Rhino 40

Exorcist 125

Sir Reginald (Knight Crusader): rapid-fire battle cannon; heavy stubber; twin Icarus autocannon 465

Thanks in advance.

I'd be tempted to drop your cannoness out of the first list to achieve the bulk of the points and trimming the 3 excess sisters in the immolators for an additional 131 points for the 3rd Exorcist. Celestine is a pretty good warlord choice and the extra tank chassis really helps, along with those sweet AP1 missiles.

Trimming the extra sister out of the immolator squads and losing some girls from the dominions should free up enough points for that 3rd Exorcist that would do you a world of good with armour saturation in your second list too.

I like the 1st list better, but I also like knights, though I fear you might have been better off with a Paladin or Warden as opposed to a Crusader, but I'd still be very keen to hear how you go if you do take the knight.

I need the Canonesses in the first list to be the HQ for the primary detachment so I can bring more than three fast attacks.

A third option, I could bring my avenger. But that may be too few troops.

Sister Rebecca (Warlord) (Canoness): The Mantle of Ophelia; power weapon; plasma pistol; rosarius 135

Red Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60
Green Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60
Purple Squad (6 Battle Sisters): meltagun; heavy flamer 92
• Immolator: twin-linked multi-melta 60

Yellow Squad (9 Dominions): 4× meltagun 157
• Sororitas Rhino 40
(Rebecca's Squad) Blue Squad (9 Dominions): 4× meltagun 157
• Sororitas Rhino 40

Sir Reginald (Knight Crusader): rapid-fire battle cannon; heavy stubber; twin Icarus autocannon 465

I would replace the Canoness with Celestine (same points).

I would also drop the extra sisters and dominions to try to fit another squad in. Alternatively, get some combis and laud hailers for the dominions.

I think I agree that your knight may be sinking too many points as well, but oh well.

Um, Celestine has a jump pack, she can't go in a transport. How do I keep her from being shot with every anti personal weapon my opponent has while everyone else is riding?

You don't.

You let them waste their fire on her and then get her back up. Even with no transport, she's better than a regular canoness. Or you have her join a dominion squad that jumps out turn 1.

The only problem with that is a well placed lascannon wastes her one time to get back up

Ah. I'll have to think of that and also using not full transports.

That's one less las cannon at your vehicles.

As well, you can choose to leave her down and deny them slay the warlord. Brief your opponen on this pregame though.

If I risk the Cannoness, She can roll on the warlord traits table and I can try to get the one that lets me move up three of my units or something else useful.

I need to get a third Exorcist, maybe next pay day. . .

Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to think about it tonight. I'll tell you what I ended up with and how things went.

You can also pull this trick by taking Celestine and making a regular sister superior your warlord instead.

I like that a lot, but let me propose something similar with a few tweaks;

135 - Celestine

140 - 5x Sisters, 1x Melta, 1x Heavy Flamer, Immolator w/ TL-MM
140 - 5x Sisters, 1x Melta, 1x Heavy Flamer, Immolator w/ TL-MM

145 - 5x Dominions, 4x Melta, Rhino
145 - 5x Dominions, 4x Melta, Rhino
140 - 8x Seraphim, 2x Hand Flamers

125 - Exorcist
125 - Exorcist
150 - Avenger Strike Fighter

465 - Sir Reginald (Knight Crusader): rapid-fire battle cannon; heavy stubber; twin Icarus autocannon

That list is appealing, but I am nervous about the squad size, I like to have people to soak woulds. But it does bring a lot of different kinds of stuff to the table that would be fun to play. I want and need experience with the Serephim and ST Celestine (I hear they are really great, but I have yet to use them much or make them work.) and the Avenger is fun if a bit fragile (If someone brings anti-air I HAVE to jink and therefore might as well not brought the plane.) So many pros and cons to weigh!

Sisters are either all or nothing for squad size. T3 isn't really good enough that less than 20 are going to be impressive.

I almost always go with base 5.

Good point, I will have to try some games that way.

I decided to take a modified version of list 2, I guess now it was not a good list. I should have listened to you more.

The tables were quite cluttered with line of sight blocking terrain. It was quite easy for people to hide from long range fire. It helped me in some ways but the narrow through ways clogged easily with my transports. The scoring was three parts, if you win in that part you got 10 points, if you lost you got none. Also you could get one point for slay the warlord, first blood, and line breaker.

Game 1 was am objective securing game. I was against Mechanics and I did OK. I did a lot of damage to his army and scored a lot of points towards getting points, but ultimately I lost by a land slide it was 22 to 2.

Game 2 I had the buy so I played the TO. This was a kill point mission. He had a demon army with some nurglings for troops and a bunch of demon princes. The Nurglings were hiding on the far corners of the board behind LOS blocking terrain and the demon princes were airborn the whole time. Except the Bloodthruster, it was invisible. He won, but I managed to take out two of his demons and wound the others. I felt I did well. It was 32 to 0.

Game 3 I was against Blood Angels with some Other space marine allies. I lost, 33 to 0, but I did manage to hurt his army and at one point my Cannoness and Danti were fighting with one wound on each. Yes he won, but he was almost nervous there for a moment, that is something. All but one of those wounds on Danti were done by shooting, but that one, my Canoness pistol whipped him good.

How did you find your knight? Helpful or no? Did you wish you'd brought as warden or paladin instead at all?

Oh yes, it worked great. I liked the Crusader, the Avenger cannon was a great weapon. Anything shy of armor 2 is did good against and it took out some tough stuff. He would find an objective in the back and park on it and blow stuff away all game.

The knight is still Strength 10 AP2 in h2h and melee only came into play when the Bloodthruster charged me. If it was not invisible and I already had three hits on the knight or I had rolled a bit better I probably could have won. But it was OK, the last wound was done by a heavy flamer on overwatch from a BSS as the Bloodthruster charged it.

Instead of a knight, how about a space marine command squad and chapter master smash feck? Then put Celestine there.
