Hello everyone, i am in the process of painting up some assault marines. One of them is metal, looks almost exactly like the following picture(except sword and gun arms are swapped.)

The item in question is underneath the grenade on the belt, down all the way on the side of the bottom leg plate.

It doesn't stick out as much as the grenade does, but has a similar raised pattern, looks like a tic tac toe square 3 bumps across 3 down. Literally right on the side of his calf.

I have a feeling its some kind of grenade, but I want to be sure before I paint it, because I have not seen a grenade on the calf before.

I apologize for not having a pic, but my phone camera won't focus that small to make it out.

Has anyone seen something like this on a Space Marine?

I have an inkling, but google isn't providing me with a suitable picture - would you describe it as maybe being a control panel? Like, buttons or switches?

Honestly, It looks like a pineapple grenade without the rounded top or bottom parts, just a square.

Its that pattern essentially.

This is the best picture i can get of it. Is it maybe an ammo clip?

Is it glued on or a part of the leg? I don't recall seeing a bit like this before...

I honestly don't know. i bought this as part of an ebay bundle. It is baffling me too. Only thing i have ever seen on legs are skulls/purity seals/ and circuitry. Since it's metal i assume its part of the model,

It appears to be shot gun shells or boltgun shells.

Fake Englandland

They're grenades I think

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

I have a bag O'bits from some Space Marines I've purchased and there is a piece in there that is curve shaped that has 3 or 4 pieces of almost BB gun gas tank cartridges, looks exactly like what they glued what you showed there.

Somebody mentioned they are bolts which could be fair but why only 4 ?

slap some gold on then brown strap ! or do maybe some sort of a green vial look to it as if a stim-pac

best of luck !

Get it painted up though. It's a scientific fact that unpainted models die quicker than painted one's.

Those look like vials from an apothecary kit. Another thought, maybehigh caliber grenades for a grenade launcher.

If they came out of a standard space marine kit, I'd say the stem packs is a pretty good bet

Hard to say from that blurry picture, but it could be sniper projectiles from the Scout Sniper kit.

TY all for the help.

The general consensus seems to be bullets or grenades.

Since Gold is part of the theme, I see no reason why I can't just do as another poster suggested and go with a bullet look.

I guess this is just one of the perils of buying a guy already assembled/ primed. You get to go out after and figure out what bits/weapons the guy made him with =)

Once again, TY all!

My buddy said "Those are bolter rounds on a three round clip. Those are veteran legs, in ultramarines they get different ammo types"

Makes sense to me.
