In my (little) experience the shasui isn't worth it, I'd take those points and invest them in a dedicated markerlight squad like scouts, as tau don't actually shoot very well without.
And then maybe add a seeker missile to the broadside. You will most likely still struggle to kill tanks, but chances are you will be facing more lightly armoured vehicles which you should be able to take down with the riptide. But only one a turn. But the fire warriors can also help take those downs, so you should be ok.
Anything bigger though and you will have a hard time unless you get lucky with the charged burst cannon of the riptide. Don't expect that one rail rifle to be popping any tanks though.
So yea, just add some markerlights and you should be fine for the most part.
