Some code being thrown between friends on github.
This is the start of 40k losing hard print codexs.
Expect an App similar to WarRoom

There will be a 40k app, as the other 2 appear to be doing well.
But, it'll just be a filter of the main warhammer app, not an AoS-type app, I expect. Maybe a couple of 'exclusive' wallpapers or something, but nothing like the AoS overhaul of the game as a whole.
I'll prepare to eat my hat, but we'll have heard about an 'Age of Horus's Grandson' before any 40k app.

God I hope not. Cutting out the entire segment of their players that have Android devices would be monumentally dumb.
Edit: I'll be damned. When did they start releasing on Android?

Developers sharing the code for an App they're working on is just about as reliable as you can get. Not sure where your logic is failing, but it's failing hard.

You didn't even provide a link to anything to verify this.
However, if we're discussing wishlist 40k app features...
1. An army builder. I'd even buy it for $10, or $1 an army.
2. A rule book.
3. Dice tools.

“Derp Studios are very proud to finally be able to release the Warhammer 40,000 – Tactical Objectives App – it’s a massive achievement. For a small indie studio to be working with one of the biggest tabletop IP’s in the world still blows my mind.
I would personally like to thank everyone who has supported me in making this happen, family, friends, colleagues and of course Games Workshop and the Warhammer 40,000 community.
It’s been one heck of a journey, but it’s not over yet. The post-release support and update of the app is just on the horizon.” commented Chris Ledger, CEO and Lead Designer, Derp Studios Ltd.

It couldn't be free. Why would it be, it does save you a moment or two of dice rolling and the information is entirely contained in the core rulebook.
If they can release ALL of the info for AoS for free, why not give 40k some lovin and let them roll less dice without a price tag? Especially when most people ALREADY bought the card decks anyway...

There's a large amount of stuff from AoS which isn't free. A lot of the scenarios and formations are locked in the books/individual purchases via the AoS App.

But you can buy the scenarios/formations for LESS than what you would have to pay if you bought the tomes. There's some nice little bundles there too.

GW is not making the app, an third party is. So this third party needs money for making it and then pay GW royalty fees unless GW hired them to do it, then it could have been free. Since the Age of Sigmar app I believe doesn't say who made it but GW, I believe Derp Studios is paying GW so needs money to pay GW and make a profit, so no free app for us.

I got this yesterday and it is pretty nifty. Keeps track of your score etc. options for 1st blood, kingslayer and line breaker.
Only minor niggle is that you can't look at the cards you have scored once you achieve them... i.e. so if there is a query at the end of the game you just have to trust you did the right thing. In fairness it is pretty hard to do the wrong thing as its all automated!
Also you can buy faction specific cards... the cadian ones and tau are not available (yet?). And imperial guard are missing... cannot remember if they ever had them though.
