A quick introduction as this is my first post. I’ve been out of the hobby for mostly 15 years now, used to play tyranid, ork, spacemarine 40k armies in my teenage years, but house & bills etc got these sold. A couple of years ago I took on dungeon bowl, picked up a team & moved house before finishing. So now we are here, Votkov, 31, picking up my dungeonbowl team & starting again.

So that’s me, hello to all 

This thread?

So at current I have around 30 pieces (I know blood/dungeonbowl uses smaller teams, but I like the idea of swapping my lineup each game) Some of them are painted from before, some have just been painted & the rest are in various stages from undercoat to modding. Currently we do not have a pitch however designs have been made & materials have been bought, so later on in the thread the focus will move from my minatures modelling/painting through to the M/P of our dungeon.

Myself & my partner, as well as a couple we are friends with will be making our own teams & working together to build the pitch so updates to that side of it as it happens.

My team
D'ork Boyz of Ghazghkull are a band formed from a group of Orks who found out how to make louder noizes (not quite akin to what we would call music). On the Ork homeworlds they would attend bloodbowl games to play for the crowd during intermissions, however due to the ball being thrown onto stage one day, causing a mass of Ork fangirls to charge onto the pitch in an effort to protect their favourite vocalist……. The band manager “Patsy Roberta” saw a new way to make a few extra coins. This would later become known as “The great Dungeonbowl swindle”

After several weeks in the mekshop making adjustments where needed, the band walked out onto the endzone of Maktarks Dungeonbowl arena. All the instruments had been converted to wireless tek, the drums thrown onto a long ago plundered death roller and the fans kitted up with the latest in “rivet metal here” bloodbowl uniforms complete with injury disclaimer forms.

Since then the Boyz have toured to many arena’s providing sound coverage while taking part in the game, always with their almost cult like following of fans.

The band I previously painted around 2-3 years ago, so for this project I will probably strip the guitarist with the blue hair, stip the bassist & remake his mohawk from milliput because I feel my sculpting skills have vastly increased since I made it. The volcalist & lead guitarist (red sunburst guitar) wont be stripped but I will retouch the paint, again to bring it up to my current skill level which is noticeable when they are stood next to my recently painted figures.

The amplifiers are each scratch built from home recycling & will later be supplemented with P.A. system & also lights made from colour changing leds with wiring & power under the stage, may also add cheap speakers hidden under the stage to plug my phone into for "real music". The stage will eventually become part of the scenery on our pitch when it is built.

My main focus of this group was the drummer, I began working on him about a month ago, originaly it was just a white metal kit for the dums & drummer, the rest of the (drum)roller has been scratch built from stuff laying around the house, I think an old scalpel was a main source. I think that is something I love about the hobby, so many things you throw out which when you rescue & scale to 25mm can make a fantastic detail piece.

ok, so hopefully with this post I will master the art of uploading images to gallery & hopefully linking them into the post where needed....

First off we have the "staff" section of the team.

From the left: Water D'ork, The Nurse, Patsy Roberta, Ork2-D'Tard

Water D'ork was a conversion piece, A friend donated a really cool looking little steampunk backpack, not sure where or what from but the gretchen model I had was in the perfect stance to convert to hold the straps for the backpack. Also complete with some small blue gems on top from the girlfriends collection which are quite effective at catching the light & looking like 2 small blue flashing lights, when used in conjunction with the steam whistle it allows him to run onto the pitch in an effort to deliver high quality, filtered, H2O.

The nurse is yet to be named, but came about from the fact I have somehow ended up with 3 of the same model, in an effort to make them look physically different rather than just a paint difference, she ended up with a power axe arm replacement, skull & attached spinal cord dragging behind her, giant syringe across the back & smaller other details, she will make anybody better with her axe of healing.

Patsy Roberta is the manager of the band, always looking for an easy way yo rip people off & make a few extra coins sweety darling. Standard model, didn't really need any conversion.

Ork2-D'Tard was just a silly idea that came up one evening about how I could disguise a trashcan as an astromech droid. A friend popped over with some goodies (an old ork truck) which included a torso with head, minus the legs & arms...... an hours work with some sprue & milliput, Ork2-D'tard. He was born an absolute genius in the terms of orks, however born with the body of a squig meant that all the other orklings teased him & after years passed they grew larger, leaving ork2 a small size in comparison leading to the older orks using him as a football, years of abuse has left ork2 a fraction of the genius he once was due to extreme brain damage from years of kicking.

The fangirls

The 6 fangirls so far, all standard models other than the banner, made from cotton ear buds, a few small nails & masking tape for the material (also later used to make the apron on the nurse), hopefully if my ork glyphs are right then it should read "D Ork Boyz". First on the left in the second picture is the painted duplicate of the nurse.

These are current unpainted girls to join the fun & below are original '88 bloodbowl orks which will be painted up to look like "bouncers/security staff"

I also have a couple of other bits on the workbench which I will go into later, but they are not associated with the game, more so just side projects for team fluff etc & mostly just for the fun & creativity, plus invaluable experience of scratchbuilding stuff.

So this brings me up to date with what I have going so far & from now on will be the start of the log, following the rest of the team build, some of my side projects & eventually covering the construction of our pitch which I have a time scale of 12 months to complete (My partner is about start her final year at college & said I have to finish it by then)

Thanks WaaaaghLord & to answer your question, southwest farmer player here, my girlfriend & I went to watch the Misfits in bristol last week & some chap was handing those flyiers out, they ended up being stored behind the stage & kinda go well during photos

So this post is more towards my WIP's on the work bench

So most of this is not for the game, its more for the hobby & fluff side. Again after seeing the Misfits & falling in love with Jerry's mic stand I had a go at creating my own out of a few skeleton parts, small nails & milliput for the mic's & FX pedals, unfortunately due to some kind of eyeball error the mic's are not tall enough so I am thinking about adding a small matchstick base to the bottom of them instead of the clear plastic they are on. The ork weight trainer is "Protective Dyke" she is Patsy's own personal body guard & excel's at telling people to "stay away from the river!!!" & "Don't go near there!" The small purple thingy is a miliput spore mine I tried making while using up some left over clay, no real purpose to it other than trying to look cute & pretty. The large base with the sandworm will end up being a display base for my drummer while not in play, again this was mostly so I can try to improve my skills with putty. Finally the small speakers are an experiment (which worked) to create small speakers from metal ring gromits & milliput, pressed with the top of a sharpie pen to make the cone & center dust cap.

So this is what I have been working on today, no prizes for guessing where the influence is from or what it is eventually going to be (TBH I'm ont 100% sure where I am going with it yet other than it is going to be the bands equivalent to the ----wagon)

And finally I give you 1 model 3 orks........ This is the comparison between the 3 dupes that I have, not to sure what to try & customize the final one with due to the fact that there just are not many ways i can cut the white metal to change the pose without looking much the same.

So yeah...... Thats where I stand at the end of this evening, more updates as it happens

Not really got loads to update today, I've been a busy little one doing other bits & not spent as much time as I would have liked to on modelling. Either way I have been doing a little mock-up work on my doof-wagon inspired battlewagon & this is how its looking so far.....

So friend turned up the other day after I posted a this WIP to him & handed me his "bits box" to raid through, aside from finding a few tracks I need & lots + lots of cool detailing bits, I got distracted from the project & put together another figure from all the spare parts I could find but more on that in a moment. My only real problem with this one at the moment is that I cant decide where I want to go with it, my 2 main choices are either following the original inspiration & bolt the air ducts to the flat bed or I can go for something a little more battlewagon & mount the ducts either side of a turret so the driver/gunner whatever can "aim" the direction of the sound, maybe like some kind of sonic cannon, i don't know. I have also been experimenting with ways to make a realitivly consistent looking speaker set to sink into the front with some success I might add. The first speakers I made were for the amp's in the previous post. The fender twin reverb & extention cabinet were my first attempt using small washers that you get from metal ring gromits (like the metal rings on your boot laces etc) with a small dot of silver in the center, this looked fine at first but a little flat (so much so that I have now found a grill to cover them) the small orange amp is done in much the same way. However moving onto the ampeg 8x10 bass amp, I made a slab of miliput, p[laces the washers on, then pushed down with the lid of a sharpie which has the exact negative to a small speaker cone with small dustcap in the center, this was the best looking speakers I made but the slab of milliput is both heavy & expensive to produce. I then took the same idea to the male side of the gromits, Instead of laying a slab I just riolled up a small ball to fit into the gromit & then pressed the sharpie lid into it. Good loooking speaker without the huge slab & weight of milliput.

Onto the next project looking at me.

So these are the figures I have been working on, on the left is "Protective Dyke" standing in her river, on the right is the next little grot to join the team & in the center is my new guy I made from parts in the bits box, still a major WIP so don't be judging it too much at the moment. This model is going to be my first model I try painting OSL onto (but I dont have an airbrush & never tried this before), the small grey section across his backpack will be painted up as 2 small glowing plasma containers that power the systems providing juice to his bionics. I personally think this is the next one to walk from my workspace to the display space. Really had a lot of fun painting it up with a few techniques I have learned since joining & reading through the forums (so thank you to everybody who takes the time to document their work.

So this is where things stand at the moment. Busy day ahead of me so probably wont be anything to report back for a while!

p.s. This is the first time I have tried to keep a blog following what I am up to on here so please let me know any suggestions to improve the posts I am making. Thanks!!!

It's been rather busy here the past couple of days so not much time for working on the miniatures, however I thought I would share the progress I have made on D'Orkinator.

I still need to add smoke & shading to the plasma exhaust above his head, but otherwise I think he is pretty much finished. The plasma exhaust & tanks on his backpack have been painted with a gone off glow in the dark nailvarnish, thats what gives it its texture & still glows, Also adding another one of my partners red gems to his eye gives a really good glowing red effect as the light catch's it

And finally I would like to share the first pictures of my partners Dark Elf team which she has started to work on. We also found one of the "Eons of Battle" video guides on making the crystals for the base's which have turned out so well The one in the center is not quite finished as she needs her shields glued on & a couple of touch ups. The base in front with no figure is done for OSL experimentation.
