I just finished priming the first batch of my space marine chapter and I must say I like the results and like the new gold primer from GW. Here's the results for everyone's viewing pleasure!

I like the color, I don't like the idea of spending $28 for a can of primer.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I echo the dislike on the price too! Especially because I seem to be pretty wasteful with primer, that's about 3/4 of the can... well, them and the backpacks/jump packs.

I'm just guessing on the amount, the can feels pretty light and sounds pretty low when I shake it.

i had no clue it cost that much! 28$? wow... at that point i would prime black and dry brush with gold. i dont care for using metallic primers anyway. i just use vallejo surface primer through my AB.

Certainly looks very different! How is it to paint over?

Don't know yet, I'm going to pick up one more can and prime the remaining marines and paint them all at the same time. Still need to finalize my paint scheme idea too. The feel of the models with the primer is nice though, I'm thinking it'll hold the paint pretty good.
