So big changes are afoot, firstly free rules PDFs: Secondly, the new Errata document is out, and it contains a number of fairly major changes that are definitely positives for the game. 2015 Warmachine/Hordes Errata I'd recommend going to this thread as a great one to be brought up to speed on the changes, it has a good run down of what you need to know: Dark Legacy wrote: - Shake Effects Blind and Shadow Bind have been added to the effects that you can shake with a focus or fury. -Pack Fury Brings the warbeast packs in line with warbeasts to prevent you from gaining fury from killing warbeast pack models with friendly model. - Major Victoria Haley (Haley2) Changed Major Haley’s feat so that the Haley player no longer chooses the order of activations for models/units. - Major Prime Victoria Haley (Haley3) Changed the wording of Temporal Flux to clarify that it grants the unit and friendly models within 5" of one or more models in the unit +2 DEF. Changed Time Projection to clarify how Haley Past and Haley Future can allocate focus and use arc nodes. - Flank Fixed Flank on Trench Buster and Sergeant Nicolas Verendrye to prevent them from flanking with themselves. - Bone Shaker Asphyxious the Hellbringer (Asphyxious3) and Calaban the Grave Walker have been updated so the wording of Bone Shaker is consistent across all models. - Pistol Wraith Death Chill was changed to stationary to allow a model with Focus: Shake Effect or Fury: Shake Effect to remove the effect. - Thyron Sword of Truth Added duration to the feat. - Mountain King Gained Assault. - Siege Animantarax Rage Tokens can be gained from friendly attacks. Rage Tokens can be used to boost any attack or damage roll. - Archangel Draconic Aura changed from Righteous Flames to causing Continuous Fire to enemy models within 2” So eHaley, eDenny and Gorman nerfed back into line, Anamantarix, Mountain King and Archangel buffed up to a reasonable shine. Definitely positive changes all around.

Waiting to see about secondary changes: is Haley3's temporal flux friendly faction or not and if Lylyth3 keeps old death chill or gets the new one.

Overall, I think it's a great set of changes.
Love that they buffed MK, the animatrix, and archangel.
Haley2 change is somewhat of a relief. It's still very powerful, just not as ballbreaking now. Same for the changes to denny2s feat.
I don't mind that blind and shadowbind are shakable now. I think it effects warmachine more (less resources to spread around) and it kind of hurts Warwitch sirens (who are already mat 5). That being said, you don't take them for their melee ability, so it's not terrible.
The pistol wraith changes are good and bad to me. They're already expensive at 3 points, and now they have zero utility vs huge bases. But stationary is really strong on a ranged platform (that still has to hit 3 times), so there are new assassination (or set ups for easier heavy killing) possibilities.
Gorman and morghoul losing non-shakable blind hurts them a little, but morghoul really only needs it on his turn anyway. With Gorman you now actually have more of a reason to use Rust bombs.
So yeah, good errata overall.

I am really liking these changes. Something had to change on blind. The ability to shut down a colossal for one turn with a 2pt solo was WAY too good.
I think the ehaley change is good for the game as well.
And free rules is good.
edit: Was not expecting any of this so it is all a pleasant surprise.

Then you use them and remember they're not like they were in Mk1 (-4 ARM as opposed to -2 ARM) like I did the other day. It was that long since I'd used a rust bomb.

Bummed about Gorman, but the guy was a 2pt Gargossal wrecking machine.

Thing is, Gorman can still do what he did to Colossals (not Gargs though) with a little tag-teaming with pEyriss and a little Death Bolt action, though if you're hitting a caster with a DB you're probably on an assassination run.

Aren't colossals all like def7 though? Or is it just the Khador one..... Anyway, blind didn't help you hit them anymore than you already would.
It does stop that silly 'I'm going to black oil my own jack on my turn, so that your blind won't effect it.'
I think that Gorman is now worth his 2 points now, as opposed to be a little under costed.

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed. |

My feelings exactly. Now, Warmachine. I think these are good changes, it could really drop a stigma some people have about Haley2, and while I am certainly bummed about the blind change, it kind of needed it I think.

Well, Haley2 still has a stupid powerful spell list and feat, it's just not as much insult to injury now.
The change does help with healing/repair and some other specific order of operation things, but giving up your movement or action is still pretty harsh.

Oh, free rules are cool! I hope they take it further and update them with the errata. One of the best things about making the rules free, I thought, is it'd allow them to actually update them so you could easily have a document with the most up to date rules in it instead of having to reference errata. I hope they also add the rules from the other books to the pdf - battle engines, colossals, etc.
The errata seem very good, too. It'll be great if they continue along those lines, making the game better step by step.

I'll settle for a version with the fluff cut out (the actual rules start on page 25) and the focus/fury game mechanics being in the same book.

I like the fluff part being available for people new to the game, but a mini-rulebook type one would be good too. Both rulebooks being combined would be great, and while we're wishlisting a print-friendly version would be really nice!

I'm wondering what they were thinking when they gave the MTK assault. Why not just increase mat by 1 to 6.

Changing it to MAT6 wouldn't make the MtK good. MAT5 isn't the only bad thing about him, it's just one of a few. It's not like it would become a good model with the MAT buff.
I don't know if Assault adds enough to make him playable, but MAT6 wouldn't either imo.

It is, essentially, a scan of the rule books minus the faction information in the last part of the book. So there are no eratta corrections or any difference between the full book and a printed copy for the pages shown.

You don't Blind things to reduce their DEF - by far the most powerful part of Blind is that you sacrifice your movement or action. It essentially shuts down a colossal for 2pts and usually something else would have to kill Gorman since you can't shoot him back, otherwise he just keeps doing it. Nothing about this change changes the way Black Oiling your own stuff works - you can still Blind yourself and it will wear off at the end of your opponent's turn and they wouldn't be able to reapply it. Its still very rarely going to be the correct play, the main thing is now that you can just shake anyway so its very rarely going to happen.
But yeah these are all incredibly positive changes, both in the sense that these changes are good for the game and that it is good to see that PP are willing to make these changes in the first place. Just to repeat what I have said on other forums already - I feel like this is more of a continuation of the general push PP seem to be making towards promoting an aggressive attrition style of game play featuring a higher number of beasts/jacks. In the broader sense these changes are all nerfs to the strongest control/scenario casters and solos (yes there are control casters which didn't get touched, but none with the kind of abilities/spells that D2/H2 have) - they removed the 4pt turn with the latest scenario pack and this is a move towards limiting the two turn auto win (i.e. the 3pt turn + trival removal to get another 2pts).

pEiryss does nothing to colossals. They can't be disrupted. Only eEiryss can stop them because she prevents allocation within a bubble around her. And only if she runs up there.
