So on a spur of spontaneity i bought a Ven dread, Deathwing Command Squad and a Terminator chaplain (can use as a libby). These could be used in later points though.

MY FLGS has a tournament coming up. It is a doubles tourny with 750 points each. I think I am allying with my brother though who has Drop pod Blood Angels

Interrogator Chaplain 155
bike, power fist

Ravenwing Command Squad 190
+ 1, Champion, RWGL, DA Chapter Banner

Dreadnought 105
plasma cannon

Tac Squad 150
grav gun, combi-grav, razorback

Tac Squad 150
grav gun, combi-grav, razorback

I amnt looking to be fighting much tanks, apart from an imperial guard player who has 2 chimeras and 2 leman russes which could be a problem. my brother has a melta drop pod squad so hopefully he can take care of one russ from the get go. The grav guns are for heavy armour (centurians, and ive had good luck vs vehicles with them as well)

I could drop the dreadnought and the combi gravs and squeeze in a dev squad with 2 grav cannons?

What are your thoughts guys, and would you go with the biker squad or should i go terminators?

Canada

the dreadnaught is a tad impractical, plasma cannons and other long ranged weapons are the toys of someone who has the BS or the volume to make them reliable and the dreadnaught by himself isnt reliable especially since hes bs4 unlike the bs5 of a venerable.

grav cannon devestators are an awful idea, their limited to 24" and devestators enjoy standing back and hurling from afar like centurions can or the land raider excelsior, devestators cant shoot as far as they can.

the concept of the standard dreadnaught is to drop pod in out of sight and then sneak up and derp someone with his multi-melta before charging into them before delievering a hammering blow from his fists.

i recommend looking into other models like maybe a predator with a lascannon for the future which is 100 exactly

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts

Give yout tacticals plasma and make your bikers standard bikers with grav. Relentless is necessary for grav. Take melta bombs and an auspex instead of a combigrav. Or maybe a combiplas or both. Are the razorbacks stock with hvy bolters? I liike Lasplas personally. Have your droppod ally take care of melee. Take the dread stock and get it a drop pod, or make it a weapon platform and give it wither autocannons or las-missile. Lasmissile is expensive as hell tho. But gives good antitank.

Try scouts with sniper instead of tacticals if you need to find some points since your buddy can drop pod in and take mid field anyways. You should be providing heavy fire support if he's all pods. Let him handle melee. the chaplain can go with the tacticals if you drop the bike or use him to tank wounds for your gravguns. Maybe try to fir in a libby on bike? the divination support would be lovely on 6 gravshots. Or a dreadnought but if you're using him to support the dread keep him on foot. Maybe with sniper scouts, hiding both them and the dread in cover? Not sure what models you have but if you want some heavy firepower preds with las are always good. Take autocannon with las-sponsons if you're budgeting.

first off thanks for responding, i appreciate any advice given.
Secondly the models I own that can be used for DA are, DW Command Squad, Terminator Chaplain, Ven Dread, 20 Tacticals and Devastators. I still have most special weapons and heavy weapons on the sprues waiting to be used.

I think you are right with my ally taking the melee side with 2 dreadnoughts and I can provide the firepower and fast movement for support.

So here is a list using what you guys suggested

Libby 110
Level 2, bike

Tac Squad 150
plasma gun, combi-plasma, Standard Razorback

Tac Squad 150
plasma gun, combi-plasma, Standard Razorback

RW Squadron 1 130
+1, gravgun x2

RW Squadron 2 95
meltagun x2

Predator 115
Lascannon sponsons

The Libby goes with the grav squad with Divination or Interrormancy.

My other option would be to drop the 2nd bike squad and make the 2 razorbacks las plas, and have 30 points left over to get the bike sarg a combi-grav and meltas for the libby.

How does this look now?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
or there is this alternative, which would save me a wee bit of money

Libby 110
bike, level 2,

Tac Squad 150
razorback, plasma gun, combi-plasma

Tac Squad 150
razorback, plasma gun, combi-plasma

RW Squadron 170
+2, grav gun x2, combi-grav, melta bombs

RW Landspeeders 150
2 with Typhoon Missile Launchers

This leaves me with 20 points, and a harder hitting fire support than the predator, although the speeders are a bit easier to kill.

Which list looks stronger?

speeders are actually insanely durable with the ravenwing rule. Rerollable jink save is ridiculous. But you give up 90% of your firepower next turn with them so choose carefully what to jink against. I like both of these lists It's easy to convert a las-plas razorback by putting a plasma gun on the space marine guy that's supposed to be using the storm bolter, and using the lascannon turret it comes with. I'd say use your last 20 pts for that on one squad's razorback.

Do you not own bikes? Because they are quite expensive without geting a discount I'd recommend trying to find some dark vengeance bikes for cheap off someone if you can. Deathwing command squad can also work very well with a drop-pod list if he takes homing beacons, or if you use the ones on your bikes. But it depends if your ally is taking termies or not. They eat up points like crazy but they are super tough. I'd recommend 2 TH/SS guys, 1 w/ TH/SS and the missile launcher, and either an apothecary or a champion. The former makes the squad super tough, the latter makes them even nastier in melee. Last guy can be a standard dude to save pts, but that squad is already almost 250. But it would save you money since you already have it. Remember that you have split fire with DW termies so you can fire the missiles across the board and then assault a different unit that's closer.

DWing Knights are pretty much the best melee squad in the game and would be a brutal beta strike dropping in near drop pods with beacons, but remember they cant assault after DS so it'll be a turn 3 assault at best, but again, can be made from DW command so saves you money.

Do you know what kind of tourny it is? Like just standard BRB missions? Or custom ones? My FLGS uses custom missions and it messed me up in my first tourny there last time.

I kind of like the second list better because you're firing a hell of alot of missiles plus you can pop off heavy bolter shots, alternatively to the lasplas razorback you could take MM on the landspeeder squad. This gives them a dedicated job in vehicle hunting, and they're pretty fast able to zoom up the field and deliver those MM right into whatever nasty tank the enemy decided to bring. Alternately, take 2 MM on the speeders, and keep another 20 pts for laspplas razorback. Any players with lots of tanks will throw everything they've got at the speeders. Laugh as you reroll jink saves and eat all their fire. Beware of Ignores Cover though. Tau will be the second list's bane with markerlights. Hell even just TLSMS will mess up your speeders.

I might go with the pred over the speeders tbh. It's cheaper and tougher than the speeders if you park it in cover somewhere. Stick it next to an objective in your deployment zone, and use the razorbacks and bikes to take midfield. Let your buddy drop in on your opponent on your opponent's side(but don't leave them alone without fire support behind a building or something, if it can be helped. The bikes will help with this.) Woah sorry for the paragraphs lol got a bit carried away.
