Several weeks ago i had some extra cash, and after having to... downsize my other forces to nil, i figured it was as good a time as any to get started on a new army. At the time the choice had been between two, Chaos, and Eldar. Never being the sort to go for easy mode, my mind was made up in short order. I placed my order, and then the waiting game began any work could take place. That wait thankfully ended last Tuesday as my order arrived to my door step. (it would figure though my other love, my first army, Tau, would get their leeks that day too.. The chaos gods must be testing me!)

So what arrived? What was i waiting several weeks on?
-Chaos marine box
-One set of MK2 armor
-One set of MK3 armor
-One set of Iron Warrior Helmets
-One set of Deathguard toros
-One set of Heresy era Plasma guns
-Three sets of Iron Warrior mk2 Shoulderpads
-Three sets of Laser Destroyer Rapiers

In addition to this i have also.. procured three Rhinos and two Vindicators from the loyalists, they will need to be suitably reworked before the warsmith will see them favorable to be fielded.

Several days of Washing, Clipping, Cleaning, Scraping, Filling, and Assembly see me to today. What i have to show right now is just about where i stand with everything, expect the pictures were pre-prime, which i finished off this evening. So far, im quite enjoying the sense of character that is showing up in the line-up.

I've gotten some paint onto the first five marines, Base coat and an initial wash. I've also done up my highlights of silver, but i dont have any pictures of that stage uploaded.. or taken for that mater. Tomorrow i'll be going back in to work on their gold trim, and give them their final armor wash before moving onto detail work.

Just a quick update. I finished off the metal work on this first lot of five. It leaves me to go back in for detail work, and then figure out where my hazards will be going. I might be able to get them finished up before friday, if not, dont expect anything over the weekend, I'll be recovering from a wisdom tooth extraction.

I arise, with slightly fewer teeth!

Friday was a tough day, but i made it though. Between thursday night, and this morning i've just about completed those first five guys. Only real snag is that i've run out of black paint, so you'll see where the hazard stripes have been left off. I haven't started on weaponry yet either, just my own lazyness i feel. Im debating as to if i should start on the next five, or take a treat in the form of one of the rapiers.

Quick update for you guys.

Over the last week while i've been recovering from my tooth extraction i've been working on the next set of iron warriors. The iron has, at this point, been worked up to its final highlight, and is waiting for the gold before giving it, it's final wash. I will fully admit that i did get alittle bit carried away at this stage.. but.. i wont have to repeat it for a good while! You might also glimpse something else that followed them from the eye.

Off to a really great start.

Damn, these are nice! The iron is really nice, which is hard to do when most of the model is just metal! Glad this will be on my subbed list now, always love to see more Iron Warriors

Update on my second set of five iron warriors. I still have the bare head to work on, as well as the backpacks and then weapons. I'm also still needing to work out the hazard stripes, so far my few attempts at freehand have been... less then satisfactory. Any suggestions i would be more then open to hearing.

I've gone ahead and finished up the last bit that i needed with the second set of marines, and i've also gone back to the first set, finished off their weapons and hazard stripes. Initially my thought was to go with thinner bands of black and yellow, but i think im likeing the way they came out much better instead. The only bits that i haven't sorted just yet are the plasma coils. I haven't quite decided if i want to go with the normal blue plasma, or go with a red/orange color.

Next up i think i'll keep going with the infantry figures, save the Rapiers for later as a reward for chugging though the marines.

Marines 11-15 are coming along quite nicely. Only waiting on finishing up their weapons and backpacks before they themselves are finished off too. That does, however, leave me at a small dilemma for 16-20, namely now being out of bolters to arm them with. As well as missing afew extra backpacks to equip the last set with. I figure i may as well get them painted up fully sans weapons/ missing packs, untill i can get my hands on some more. Im thinking that i may start work on the rapiers next. I did go ahead and get the three primed. I am waiting on touching the vehicles untill i can get some plasticard on them, give them more.. chaos like trim.

One other small issue that i find myself running into right now, i find my drive wavering to keep working on Chaos. Now, i still want to work on my Iron Warriors, But im not sure what i should be picking up next to add to the warsmith's forces. I keep wavering back and forth between deciding to keep them as pure 40k Chaos, or also building them up to use in heresy era as well. But then again, im also wondering Loyalists for my heresy legion? And then theres a desire to work on something with a cleaner look then what im working on now. Needless to say it's frustrating.. Maybe i should just pick up that chaos warhound afterall..

So it's been slightly longer then i would say i meant for it to since my last update. I finished up the third set of marines, and as always im quite happy with the way that they turned out. Like i said last time, now im out of bolters to equip the last five with, and im missing four backpacks to boot.. so i may finish off their armor sans that stuff..

One month has passed and what do we have to show for it? Not as much as i would have hoped for. Between illness, studying for the FAA, and just general lazyness.. i've really only progressed slightly past where i was before hand.

I've started work now on the three rapiers that i've had sitting on my shelf, base coated and washed down to a nice dirty and well used level. I'm planning on blacking out the main body of the laser destroyers, and either going black, or gold, for the emitter shrouds. The coils (or what ever they are near the base of the barrels) Im not sure what im going to do with them yet. If i go for embelishments of gold, or if i get them glowing. The shields, which you will notice are missing from the front of them currently, i do plan on adding the normal hazard markings, but, as ever seems to be the case, i've run out of averland sunset.. so those must sit and wait.

You may also notice a plastic comtemptor sitting behind them and to the side. Yes, i have picked up the BaC box set.. it was just too good of a deal to pass up on. Im planning on adding the Terminators to this force, perhaps as 30k tyrants. The Mk4 armours, i would like to add in aswell, i just have to figure out a good way to modify them to look more the part, for i feel just as they are, they dont fit the general pattern that the rest of them fall into. It's that, or i get started on a new legion with them... Either way, please let me know what you guys think.

Just a quick update here.

I haven't done any more painting yet, but i did get a new order in this afternoon. Someone... large.. to oversee my progress.. Im afraid of what might happen should i be found.. wanting..

Update time. So i haven't put paint to the big man yet, but i have however brought his kill to life.. so to speak. It was actually quite fun to work on the downed knight, and something of a change for me to work on a vehicle that already has its fare share of sculpted damage to it. It probibly took me, over the course of the last three days, six or seven hours of work to get it as you see it now. It's almost a shame that i wont have to do another one, thats just how enjoyable it was to me.

Looks like the wrecked knight is coming along quite nicely. Can't wait to see how the big man comes out. I'll be keeping an eye on this

According to the data slates, it's update time again.

So far everything has been coming along great. I've put work into the big guy over the last few days and im nearing into the finishing stretch with him. I meant to get more pictures of my progress on him but before i even realized it i was already this far into it.. oops. At this point all i really have left is to work on Perturabo's face, and some more of the wires around his head and the armor itself. I also have to paint up the lenses of the sensors, and i think that i'll be able to call him finished at that point.

I believe i have finally settled on what to do with my BaC box..es.. Yes, i have two of them now. The Terminators are going to prove their iron in the best way possible. The power armor on the other hand.. filthy loyalists somehow were able to spirit them away.. never even saw them..

And we hit the end stretch of the Lord Primarch's construction. The face was admitedly alittle trickier then i had assumed it would be, but im satisfied with the end results. What say you all?

I've gotten back around to work on my rapiers and i think that i am just about finished with them now. Im trying to decide if i want to do anything special with the coils near the body of the weapon casing, or simply leave it as is. If that is the case, then they are finished. After these, i have my calth boxes to start work on. A set of cataphractii terminators, and then all those mk 4 marines that i am still fully undecided on what to do with them. Im not fully convinced that they will fit in with the theme i have running with my other power armored figures, plus i would need more chaos bits that i dont have right now on hand. Any suggestions?

++ Send the report to the warsmith, the bunker complexes are more heavily fortified then initial recon had suggested. It's nothing but a minor inconvenience, but it puts our plans behind schedule. I'm calling in the raptor strike teams, We'll melt though those bunkers before laying down heavy bombardment. ++

I've begun work on my next two units to add to the warsmith's cause. A double team of melta equipped Raptors. I decided against going the easy route of picking up the raptors boxes from GW, and instead i've kitbashed and converted my own. As nice as the stock kit is, i dont feel that it quite fits the design and direction that im taking my iron warriors. I still need to figure out a source for jump packs to go along with them, any one have some suggestions?

Anvil industries or Maxmini have some very nice alternate jump-packs which would suit the Iron Warriors nicely.

Alright, so i've narrowed it down to three possible Jump packs to use, and the issue is i like all three styles. I think that i'll put it up to a vote and see what the most popular option is, thats right you guys get a say in the progress of these iron warriors.

Hmmm... personally, I'd go either for the first or the second kit; the first reminds me a lot of the old metal Raptors' jump packs, while the second is more angled, which I personally prefer
