Hello All,

I am returning to 40k from an almost decade long hiatus. I have been involved in Warhammer fantasy for many years and am now looking to expand into the sci if realm ( this may or may not have something to due with AOS, although I do enjoy it ). I picked up 2 boxed Immolators that were sitting on a shelf in my FLGS and one off of eBay that was missing the turret. I thought transports were a good place to start.
I am going for a white and yellow theme. I want it to look bright and noble, but also look as though they have been campaigning (or crusading) for some time.
Below are my first two Immolators. The one on the left was the one I got without the turret. The turret that is on there is an alternative razorback turret. For this project I am using an airbrush to do a lot of the work. This is my first time using one. I am using the hairspray weathering technique and I recently purchased weathering powers but have not applied them yet.
More to come!

Nice scheme!

Looking forward to a SoB plog.

Out of interest, what exactly is the hairspray technique and how did you achieve it? I appreciate I could google it, but I figured might be better to hear it for a fellow gamers mouth, so to speak.

White and yellow are both very ambitious colors to work with. Weathering should show up very well on them though. Looks good so far.

I finished my third Immolator and added weathering pigment to the tracks. Below is a picture of all three up to date. I'm planning on starting up on troops next but weighing my options. There is the expensive route with original GW SoB miniatures. Then there are third party conversions, the jury is still out. I have started on a battle conclave consisting of 3 crusaders so far. 2 are original GW and the third was a fun conversion. I am working on priests next. Hope you like.

As far as the weathering technique, I first apply a base coat. You would want to use a color that would typically be used as a primer before the vehicles were painted their final color. I used grey. After that I applied a satin varnish to the model to lock the base coat in place. Next I sprayed a healthy dose of hairspray. After it dried, I sprayed the white color and let it dry. The fun part is using a toothbrush with a small amount of water to brush the paint. The paint should chip off the white leaving the grey showing in a realistic, weathered fashion.
The next step is more satin varnish to once again lock it in place.
I then tape off parts of the miniature that I want to paint a different color. and repeat the process. After everything is varnished again, i apply some dark, Brown/red enamel thinned with mineral spirits to all the recesses and rivets.
That is the readers digest version. I just started trying this and there are much better and more talented people who can explain this better.

Hello everyone,
Been awhile since my last update. I've been busy switching square bases to rounds... back to the Adeptus Sororitas! I have acquired 3 repressor transports. They were in varied states of paint so i primed them all grey. I figure ill finish them later. Now that the Order has it's transportation figured out, I figured I should work on getting more boots on the ground. I converted up two priests for my battle conclave. The first one was from the forgeworld empire command set that came with a flagellant. I loved the other command models, but never ran flagellants, so doubled up a chainsword and gave it to him as an Eviscerator. The second one was given a power maul.
I also used some 3rd party models as my cannoness with slight conversions.

Quick update. I've started on my actual battle sisters. I'm using dreamforge games miniatures. They look great and are very cost effective. I'll post the squad when it is completed.
Thanks!

The dreamforge models look great, but they may need some conversions to fit with the SoB aethetic. So many tanks!

I agree, need to bring them more in line with the SoB look.

Yeah, as nice as the Dreamforge models are they don't scream SoB to me.

I'm well jelly of your Repressors though, especially in since they no longer appear to be available from FW :(

Very nice stuff, but I think the GW arms on the Dreamforge models aren't working. They just have HUGE hands.

Maybe use the DF arms and either their guns or older 2nd edition bolters which are a bit smaller?

Now that you mention it, those hands are driving me crazy... Here is a photo of the same gun with the Dreamforge hands. The model is still WIP.

As someone else returning to the hobby after a large gap, welcome back.

Your Sisters look great. As well as Kid_Kyoto's suggestion about using 2nd Edition bolters (which the original Sisters had) you might also want to consider the Umbra pattern available from FW

Looks better but the gun still looks like a tape deck.

Are the DF guns really not suitable as bolters?

I can see swapping in meltas and flamers but do you really need to swap basic rifles?

Looking fab. The main thing missing from the silhouette from me is the power armour backpack vents. Otherwise they're cool!
