The question is as follows, Do you sit in silence when paintin/modeling or do you listen to something, And if so what?

I used to do all my work to the more harmonic songs i enyoj, But have now taken to listening to Black library/40k audiobooks and i have found it
an extremely potent "Keep you occupied when doing tidious/boring work" And a natural funnel of inspiration (Listen to books about the race you are building)

Do anyone else do this aswell or what works best for you?

So far, while building my Tau army, I have watched the final three seasons of Star Trek: TNG and all of Star Trek: DS9. I think I'm now going to move on to Star Trek: Voyager.

Gotta love Netflix.

I usually watch something I've seen a half dozen times before on Netflix. Something that will amuse even if I'm only kind of paying attention to it. Futurama and Family Guy top the list.

Second netflix. Either that, a batrep, or some form of rock is playing while I model and/or paint

I like watching easy to watch series when I'm painting.
I used to watch a lot you tube battle reports, I don't enjoy them as much as before.

I like to listen to podcasts while I pain or model. Radio Dead Air and the Co-optional Podcast are among my favorites. I listened to The Independent Characters before that show went on hiatus, and now mostly listen to the Preferred Enemies.

Pick a television series with many seasons, start at episode one, and binge. Preferably a series in which I've done this many times already. Netflix is the absolute best for this, but the never ending reruns on Comedy Central work well too.

Sometimes I listen to video game music that people post on YouTube while I paint. I also sometimes play painting tutorials in the background. Of course, I did the audiobook thing once (when the free Maelstrom's Edge audiobook came out) which actually worked well.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 12 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

Only three seasons of the greatest Star Trek saga ever? You must finish it before moving on to Voyager.

I had already finished the first four seasons before I started working on this army. DS9 was better. And so far in Voyager, my only hope is that Janeway is impaled by a piece of her ship as it's destroyed by one of the Delta quadrant aliens.

Anything will do as long as it's not silence. I really like the idea of modelling with some distractions, it should not be something one does in the basement at odd hours.

For me, it depends on my mood and on how 'involved' I need to be, if that makes any sense.

If I'm going to have my head down most of the time, then I'll probably listen to some Iron Maiden or Nightwish.

On the other hand, if I'm doing something where I can look up often (e.g. whilst waiting for glue to dry), then I might put on an episode from a series.
