The Long WIP

So, this is an attempt to document my progress with my myriad hobby projects, mostly in Games Workshop, however with the Shipping of Maelstrom's Edge in December I will include work on that as well.

So, My current hobby projects and goals are:

Converted 40k Squat/Skitarii/Blood Angel/Knight 2000pt force.
Warhammer Fantasy Dwarf Force
And of course, the obligatory Angry Marines warband!

And My completed (for the moment) projects are:
Soul Drinkers 1500pt force
Pre-Heresy style Thousand Sons warband
The Hobbit Dwarves and Goblins
Necron army
And a bad-ass Pink and Purple Spehss Erlf.

So to get started, here's my first Angry Marine;

I'll post new stuff pretty much as I do it, however due to school commitments there might be some spells where nothing is posted for a couple of weeks, however I'll try to upload pictures fairly often, even if they are just of finished projects.

So, I've finally gotten started on my Squat army!

It is a combined force of squats, ad-mech, and blood angels. I've assembled a unit of Skitarii Rangers, and ordered the parts for a test model of a tech-thrall.
I've got the models for the Blood Angels already, and am now waiting on another can of chaos black to undercoat them.
The Adeptus Mechanicus portion is what I'm currently working on, It's made up of Skitarii and Tech-thralls (counts-as imperial guard). Here's the progress I've made so far:

Soon I hope to work on the test model of the tech-thrall, and put another couple of coats on the angry marine.

Exciting News! I have two huge updates to my Mechanicus force!

Alright, maybe not quite that big, but still, a large part of the planning stage, and a HQ model!

I have 'completed' my model for "Magos Cusixae," my female Magos of forge-temple Mareotis, who is fascinated by the studies of the Legio Cybernetica, but unwilling to give up her Martian resources.
It is made up of segmented armour plates, and a bunch of cables and stuff. I will post pictures soon.

Also, I have received the parts for my test model for the tech-thralls, basically a bunch of Cadian parts, which I will also post pics of soon.

I have also finished my Army List for the eventual force, made up of Squats, Mechanicus, Blood Angels, and a Knight, drawing units from Codei; Skitarii, Blood Angels, Astra Militarum, and Imperial Knights.

Alright, next photodump!

To begin with, here is the test-model for my tech-thralls. A bit of info first, My idea was to essentially have 'guardsmen' like figures, with small amounts of physical augmentation. I mean, if these are the 'low of the low' of a forge, then why would a magos waste resources on major augmentation? A little bit of cranial surgery and boom, tech-thrall. Admittedly, there will be some augmentation, and more than is normal for most other forces, however i doubt it would be as common as in, say, skitarii or even the general workers. I also have attempted to keep the robed look (to a degree) as this seems to be a fairly common theme with the mechanicum. Anyway, without further ado, here's the mini:

And now, the big one, Magos Cusixae herself! I was heavily inspired by this piece of artwork by John Blanche at the time, particularly the... thing... in the top right.

And, while not a direct attempt to copy it, this was definitely inspired by it. I was working from the idea of a Magos which, while fascinated with the legio cybernetica, was unwilling to actually join their ranks and leave the resources of Mars behind. As such, she hordes any and all cybernetica technology she can get her hands on, in particularly, three thallaxi. To this end, I actively eschewed the use of robes or much cloth anywhere other than the head. I also very much went for the 'inhuman' look - she has been so augmented that she is no longer visibly human. Awesome. Anyway, here is the mini:

So, there is all my mechanicum forces so far. I am currently looking at buying a Thallax Cohort for the force (they will be counts-as heavy weapons teams) however I am also trying to balance my student budget

Not much new this week I'm afraid, rather busy studying

I did, however, pick up a unit of Thallax for my counts-as Imperial Guard Mechanicum, and have also got another bottle of undercoat, so new painted models coming in the next few weeks.

Well, necroposting on my own thread. Who'd have thought? (I figured that it would be better than starting a new thread, please correct me if I'm wrong)

Unfortunately, life got in the way of me continuing to burn cash, however I have picked up the slack in the last few weeks, and, with photo's coming soon, I have assembled another 10 rangers, and 10 vanguard, 3 thallax, and have a MEdge box on it's way. In addition, I have more than doubled my dwarfs, and have a large number painted.

I shall have pictures up soon, and will slowly continue to post content.

Anyway, just a quick update. I apologise for the lack of content recently, but unfortunately school has gotten in the way. However...

I have a 1000 (and 2) pt Warriors of Chaos army sitting in boxes wrapped in plastic on my desk! And over the next few weeks I'll be assembling, and hopefully painting those!
In addition, due to the current state of Warhammer, I think I'll be regressing back to 5th edition for a while. So, here's my army list for the WOC (along with a bit of fluff!);
