Since the inclusion of the Ordo Reductor in book 1 'betrayal' the inclusion was more a way of adding some spice to the loyalist side of things.
Three years later and we have a full-on seperate army list, complete with unique units,
HQ and
FOC which throws up some interesting battle concepts and this thread is (i hope..) where we can exchange data on the best use of our available assets.
So without further adoo i shall list the benefits and restrictions that come with using the 'matrix of ruin' so that we are all on the same page.
Benefits:
compulsory
HQ, 2 troops and 2 heavy support.
4 heavy support slots
2 LOW slots.
All units with the tank type are scoring in the enemy DZ (deployment zone).
All units with the tank type are obsec in maelstrom missions.
All units ingnore pinning from enemy attacks.
All units ignore the penaties and risks for moving or charging through areas of rubble,ruins, minefields and trenchworks.
Get exclusive use of Magos/Archmagos reductor, artillery batteries and minotaur batteries.
Restrictions:
HQ can only be calleb, archmagos reductor or magos reductor.
The compulsory troop choices have to be thallax cohorts
You can't have more battle/siege automata than you have units.
You have 5 troop slots.
You have 2
HQ slots
you have 2 fast attack slots.
You have 2 elites slots.
There is also an 'Isstvan Survivors' list in Calleb Decima's profile wich uses the 'Matrix of Ruin' too but with it's own special flavour...
Benefits:
All units in the detachment have 'stealth' on the first turn as well as the normal rules for the matrix of ruin.
Restrictions:
HQ - You can only take Calleb Decima and a non-compulsory Magos Reductor.
Elites - myrmidon secutors and techpriest auxillia (reductor and enginseer only)
Troops - only thallax
Fast attack - only avenger strike fighters
Heavy support - artillery tank batteries, krios squadrons, myrmidon destructors and 1 space marine heavy support choice with the tank type
