I am not sure what type of vehicle to get for my ultramarines. I have 2 Tactical Squads (10 marines), Cato Sicarius, and an Assault Squad of 5 marines.
Should I get a Land Raider, Rhino, or what? What do you guys think.

Probably either the Rhino or another box of Assault Marines. 5 of those sucker just doesn't cut it anymore, at least in my opinion.

Definitely go with the Rhino. Land Raiders are just not what they once were.

That being said, I have no idea what you should get competitive wise, but I always like larger tanks like Land Raiders or Basilisks, they just feel rather amazing.

Razorback would be better then a rhino. It’s a few bucks more, but just by leaving the top hatch unglued, you get more options.

Assuming you don’t want to go with drop pods. But you do need transports for your tacs.

Picking up a squad of devastators is something else you might want to consider. Not only could you field them by themselves, but giving you more heavy weapon options then just the MLs from the tacs is very good. It also gets you closer to the demi-company formation.

I love my land raider, but they are expensive, both in cash and points. I’d wait to pick one up until you have something worthwhile to transport in it. Work on the core of your army first.

I made the mistake of buying a Landy too early and have used it as a proxy rhino more than as an actual Land Raider.

Get five more Assault Marines, 5 Termies, Librarian in termie armor, and a Rhino.

By the way, the guy at the store I played against said I should pick up an Apothecary or some vehicle, since my marines incurred a lot of damage. I am not sure what the apothecary does game-wise.

It can be the center piece of an army. This is even more the case in 30k where there are upgrades vs melta weapons and immobility.

You can take them in a command squad for a feel no pain save. So while good for one squad, they are not going to make your army any tougher beyond that.

Vehicles make it so they need to crack the box open before killing your guys, and hopefully gets you inyo rapid fire range before taking casualties.

I say screw vehicles and get some devastators or sternguard.
