Just painted him up, and I am pleased, but I want to be better. Any help is welcome. Yes, I know that the base isn't done.

The face is great. The eyes are done well and the teeth are good n' yellow. It looks a tad shiny but that's probably just the flash being a butt. Generally I think it's best to shoot models with available light, but that's easier said than done.

It looks like you might have left out his ear piercing, but that might just be silver paint looking unpainted because of the camera again.

The main advice I have to give is make the gun more interesting. Right now it's just one color. Slapping even one color, especially your clan color (I'm assuming Evil Suns because of the red)can make the gun a lot more interesting. I'd personally add two or three more colors to really get that patchwork look.

Other than that, the paint looks solid.

The Boy looks pretty good. Solid work

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes

You're right! I did miss the earrings. I completely forgot! Thanks so much, I will tidy him up.

If you give the teeth a wash (Nuln oil or Agrax) then just touch them up a little, it will make them pop more.
Also painting the nails.
And lastly pick out some details on the gun to give another color like brass or what ever color tickles your fancy.
But all in all a stellar job

Personally I highlight just about everything. The problem with that is: It does make the painting somewhat time-consuming.

Nice looking model!

I was going for an olive green highlight for the skin, does anyone have a recommendation for a particular paint?

Hey man, the boy looks pretty good! My two cents would be to do a dark wash on the teeth to make them stand out from one another better, and to give the whole thing a matte varnish. I'm guessing that the shine is coming from your washes. I find tha the matte varnish tones the shine down, but also helps to unify the model.

What sort of bases are you thinking about doing?

I think matte varnish will work nicely, thanks (glad I bought some). I'm thinking of doing some kind of busted up concrete or maybe a grassy field.

Looks pretty good! Agreed with those above, add some paint to the earring, some details on the gun, and a nice wash to add depth to the teeth is a good idea. Maybe add a wash to the recesses of the arm muscles to give them a little more definition. You might also consider painting his lower lip with a violet wash.

Broke up gun, did teef and earrings, fixed skin, and browned up edge of shirt to simulate fraying of leather.

The gun looks great, and all the details come out nicely. It's certainly more work than I put into my standard boyz, that's for sure.

Looks pretty good. Could use a little more highlighting on the super-raised parts of the skin, shoulders, brow ridges, some on the teeth. The metal of the gun looks great.

Those sideways pictures, though... You don't even need a photo editor to fix that. Just put the pics on your pc, double-click one to view it in the picture viewer, then hit the rotate button. When you move to the next pic or close the viewer, it will save the image with the new orientation.

You know, thinking more about it, he's probably just fine where he is now. I mean, in a green tide of Orks on the table, he really doesn't need all that extra highlighting. If you're going for a "best painted" in a tourney or something, maybe, but a run-of-the-mill Ork army? He looks great.

I often overlook the concept of, "just one model out of a whole army" when people post pics of single minis. I always seem to look at them as a single model. Like a display piece, or something. Simply put, if the rest of your boyz look like this, I think it's going to be a sexy looking army.
