I plan to build the Cohort Cybernetica formation because giant killer robots. Also they're Toughness 7 ???

I think they're best accompanied by my Imperial Knight and Culexus Assassin, but that leaves around 500 points. What Imperial Ally would best compliment them?

Here's what I have so far:
++ Imperial Knights: Codex (2015) (IK Oathsworn Detachment) ++

Knight Errant [Heavy Stubber, Reaper Chainsword]

++ Officio Assassinorum: Dataslate (2014) (Inq Officio Assassinorum Detachment) ++

Culexus Assassin

++ Cult Mechanicus: Codex (2015) (Formation Detachment) ++

Cohort Cybernetica
··Kastelan Robot Maniple
····Cybernetica Datasmith [Infoslave Skull, Refractor field]
····Kastelan Robot [Heavy phosphor blaster, Twin-linked heavy phosphor blaster]
····Kastelan Robot [Heavy phosphor blaster, Twin-linked heavy phosphor blaster]
··Kastelan Robot Maniple
····Cybernetica Datasmith [Raiment of Technomartyr, Refractor field]
····Kastelan Robot [Heavy phosphor blaster, Twin-linked heavy phosphor blaster]
····Kastelan Robot [Heavy phosphor blaster, Two power fists]
··Tech-Priest Dominus [Autocaduceus of Arkhan Land, Conversion field, Macrostubber, Volkite blaster]

That totals 1320 points, but I can certainly adjust the wargear. Is it wise to keep one robot with power fists to threaten things like Wraithknights?

So what's the best Imperial ally to compliment these killer robots? Am I looking for Objective Secured? High Mobility? Counter-assault?

My best painted stuff is Ravenwing, but that's very hard to fit within 500 points; the model count would be stay very low.

An Imperial Guard blob with Priests could control the board and objectives.

Footslogging Skitarii would be fun and I'm painting them too, but they're not Objective Secured.

Space Marine Scouts like 10th Company Formation? This may be the best choice overall.

Tactical Marines in a CAD? Haha just kidding but maybe?

I might play this in local tournaments but I'm not playing these robots to win.

Hi there,
I'm in the process of putting together a similar formation, (I just love the robots!) and thought I'd share my thoughts on them. Bear in mind I haven't played them as yet so this is just theory hammer.

I see the cohort as a large brick that'll have to stay in the centre of the table and reach out with its guns and crush the enemy in assault. Phosphor Blasters are really good and will do a number on most things other than heavy vehicles and very heavy infantry. In close combat they hit with excellent strength and AP but could struggle with hordes and get locked into a protracted combat..
Also they are pretty slow and as a single unit can only score a single objective.

So the robots need help in the form of antitank ranged weaponry and the ability to crush a horde. Plus they need friends who are fast and can get around the table.

Enter the Blood Angels!

I know what you're thinking...... Blood Angels?..... Do they still exist......I thought they were squated.....Rolled into the marine book (I wish)........Worst army in the game.......Nipple marines!

Well blood angels can still do a few (a very few) things well. They have access to a few different detachment options that help you juggle what you wish to take but essentially I'm planning on running a mix of the following.
- Libby - Cheap and can throw out some Buffs.
- small Jump Pack Death Company squads with a single powerfist - they put out loads of attacks for pretty cheap and can hurt anything.
- small assault squads deepstriking via Jumppacks/droppod and being armed with between 2-4 melta shots.
- Whatever cheap troops you fancy, perhaps a droppod with Grav/combigrav or melta/combimelta tacticals or if you have a willing opponent so BS4 scouts with snipers.

They bring lots of melta for dealing with heavy antitank, put out lots of attacks for horde duty and are numerous, small, fast units to help with objectives. The extra bonus that they get to re-roll charges if assaulting a unit that got affected by a phospher blaster is also very useful for an army that really relies on getting the charge in.

Now I say all that because I'm determined to get my blood angels to at least be useful in a friendly environment but for a more competitive edge I think that standard whitescar troop bikers from the marines book in small numbers with loads of special weapons would work alot better and follow the same principles.

I had success with objective secured drop pods when 7th came out, and I do think they compliment the robots well. And blood Angeles do drop pods best. But where would the Librarian go? In a tactical squad?

Bikes w/ objective secured are an obvious fit.

Eldar Windriders plus a Farseer Skyrunner would give you extreme mobility, great firepower, and an unparalleled psycher.

White Scars w/ a bike-mounted Librarian would also be great. Not quite as good as the Eldar, but much more durable.

Ravenwing Black Knights work extremely well in MSU-style deployments, but you'd have to use the Ravenwing Strike Force and lose objective secured. Your model count would also be very low.
