Subject: Help! First time airbrushing a Flyrant

Hey guys, after years of cruising around on the Rock killing xeno scum, I decided to put the Dark Angels away for a bit and buy some tyranids.
I bought a Flyrant, put it together, primed it with purple army primer, shaded it, gave a few layers, got angry that it didn't look very good, and bought my first airbrush.
My question is, how do you think I should salvage this? Do I have to strip the paint off and start fresh? I'd rather not do that. What is your technique for airbrushing parts of models but not having it run onto others?
The airbrush colors I have are addon black, mechanicus standard grey, Kislev flesh, deathclaw brown, and genestealer purple, but I can mix some of my other colors with water and they should still work.
What do you guys think?
Thanks!

Other then it being very purple what dont you like about it? Do you want to keep or the purple at all or do away with it? Its not easier to strip paint off of plastic.

Really just want to know if I can airbrush over the layering or if it will lose its relief, and techniques for that. I used the purple primer that's why it's so purple. The end result hopefully won't be.

Stripping that would be a pain
Just painting over the top should be fine.
Paint the biggest areas first and use a brush for the details - unless you're doing transitions, getting two colors next to each other is not what an airbrush will do

You could always gradually build up to lighter shades and try to get some layering going on. Highlighting etc. to break up the mass of purple.
I would say though, that just using an airbrush will not automatically make your models look good. I found that out the hard way!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIy_OlcsLhk this video will give you a good idea of the kind of stuff you can do with an airbrush on big nid models

Awesome, thanks for the replies guys. That video is great. I'll just try to paint over it and hope for the best.

Kenny does some amazing tutorials, would seriously recommend all of his vids if you want to get into airbrushing!

Yeah, I really dislike his colour selections and style, but the man knows how to airbrush

Agreed, that autum yellow and orange scheme is ridiculous, but he still made it look good.

Here is the (nearly) final product of my first attempt at airbrushing fixing that model that I painted poorly first. I know it's not perfect, but it's a first foray at least...
