As the title says, the aim of this blog is to showcase a huge project that has been about 10 years in the making. Back in 2003-2004, I got into Confrontation with some good friends who shared an apartment with me at the time. It was a great experience that I look back on with a look of nostalgia now. Eventually we moved on to other things and I ended up moving to Japan. While there, I heard that Rackham had gone out of business a few years back and this spurred me to commence hunting down all the
OOP metal confrontation models I could track down. It took about two years visting shops and online stores across 5 continents, but I was able to acquire a very nice collection.
Because the models are so iconic, I was always intimidated to paint them. Also, there was always
40k which seemingly everyone played, so there was no real need to invest time painting models for a dead system. However, at this stage of my hobby life I am much more of a collector/painter than a gamer, so I thought now might be the time (at long last) to start working though what could easily be a five year back log. Also, I feel my painting skills might actually be good enough to do some justice to what might be some of the best models ever to be cast in metal. You be the judge!
I started with a model from the orcs of Bran O Kor--the animistic shaman mounted on a brontops. These orcs will have a desert them.
Stage 1: the mount
Stage 2: the mount with rider, cont'd
I'd say it's at 85-90% finished at his point.
Stage 3: finishing up
There are a few unpainted spots remaining, but I'll call it 97% done at this point.
