I really recommend to make a wet pallet so you can thin your paints better as the paint seems a little thick in places. The pallette helped my painting a lot and now i cant paint without it. There is a great tutorial on how to make one on tabletopminions youtube channel. Also make sure you remove all mold lines and spend more time on making sure you got them all. I noticed a line on the axe in the last picture. It makes your miniatures look more "professional". Other than that just keep painting and try out different techniques. For basing i come up with a small story of where my minis are and what thay are doing and come up with a suitable base with that. For example my eldar i am painting right now i came up that thay are protecting a shrine or something on a jungle planet from chaos. =)

Thanx for the feedback. Dunno why I left that mold line. I am usually very careful about that. As far as the paint goes, I do water down my paint. However I cannot seem to get the mix right. Especially with yellow. Do you still have to dilute your paints on a wet pallet?

Yes you still have to dilute the paints but is much easier to control with the pallet and you use less paint. Yellow is a very hard colour to paint for everyone it seems but especially with yellow its important to do many thin layers.
I guess using avarland sunset is a good base, then maybe use a wash before yriel yellow and leaving some of the previos colour in the recesses, for highlights you can mix the lightest yellow you have and a bit of white and paint that where light would naturally hit. its also good to have a lighter primer like gray instead of black as its hard to paint a light colour over a dark base colour. So go base averland sunset -> wash -> yriel/flash gits yellow -> yellow and white mix. I hope that helps.
Another way is to prime your model white than wash whatever part is supposed to be yellow with casandora yellow twice and than painting a layer or two with either yriel or flash gits yellow and than highlighting. Although this way is better if the primary colour of the model is yellow like imperial fists.
I also try to be careful with mold lines but sometimes one slips my eyes and it feels so annoying especially if i put primer on and notice later so i had to mention it =)

Well its not really that bad.
honestly first part would be deal with the mold lines.
i see one on the axe
Your paint seems really glossy for some reason would prefer to see it dropped down to satin or matt which is easy enough with a varnish (which protects the paint job anyway for gaming.)
you could probably do with highlighting a bit more. especially on the skin.
or the image is just too dark.
the amount of blood looks just right.

It's glossy because I used too much wash. I tried to dull it out with a couple of layer paints but I don't think it worked LOL.

Here are a couple others that I have painted. Are you seeing the same issues in all of them? Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay so looking at these pictures, I actually already see that they have similar problems. Why have I not noticed this sooner LOL. Oh well back to practice. :-)

I would highlight the skin with a bright green with some yellow in it. Pull out those details, you want the mini to 'pop'. Game minis are meant to be seen at a distance exaggerate things just a bit.
Basing ideas? I like sand and rocks or you can take blobs of green stuff and tease it with a pick to make grass or smosh it with a flat tool and make mud or other terrain.
Sorry off topic:
What camera are you using? My IPhone and IPad like black backgrounds when taking pictures of minis. Also I can tap on the screen to specify where I want the light settings and focus to be based. Your camera/phone probably has similar features.

Yeah i feel you need to really just highlight the skin more.
As for the gloss. you can just spray them with matt or satin varnish after (testors) and it should unify all the shine down to a matt or kinda matt finish.
sand is ok for basing. though i thinking buying or mixing a bunch of texture mud paint is quicker since you dont have to try and paint the sand after.
