Hey guys, it's me again. Now with my third attempt at actually keeping to my goals and providing consistent updates and actual progress!
To start off I have some good news! I finally finished my Nurgle DP that has been standing on my desk unfinished for far to long. The model changed a little bit from my original idea and I probably would do a few things different if I had to do it all over again.
Anyway, without further nonsense here are some pictures to start off with:

Let's start with the first stage:
I started out using sprues as well as the legs and back of the DV Hellbrute. I wanted to create a Nurgle DP that is not your usual bloated blob. Wings for added mobility and a big mace in case I want to give him the black mace.

Second stage:
I started to bulk him out with my least favourite puttys and started with adding some lower levels of texture to the legs. I also nurgled up the Hellbrute lower legs and added a whole in the stomach for some maggots.

Third stage:
As you see I got around to finish his weapon as well as a face, hand and tentacle arm. The legs also got some more detial work and I added in the stomach, chest and loin cloth. The last step was a new set of wings (That I wish I would've stuck with).
The wings were supposed to be thin and bony without to much membrane between them.

Final stage:
And here it comes! I added a armguar on the right arm that is build out of different Tyranid parts as well as a considerable amount of tentacles on it. The next step was a a few horns and spikes across the shoulder and a third small arm. Obviously the
change of wings which are more like the Helldrake wings. Despite using this set of wings I'm quite pleased with how he turned out and I can't wait to finish him up in paint (just waiting for my paint order to arrive).

Let me know what you think and which version of wings you would've liked him to have.
More pictures in the spoiler.

Spoiler:

And the base on its own:

Oh and before I forget, the next model that is hopefully going to get finished is a Khorne Lord on Juggernaut made from the Celestant on Dracoth from the AoS Starter set.
Because let's face it, Chaos is the real champion here

Hey Matthew, thank you! Glad to hear that you like it.
Here are some more pictures for you then

I now have two AoS starter sets to work with, although I only got one of each of the Khorne leaders, so I started by assembling one Dracoth Lord. I like the model and thought right away that all the lion heads could easily be deamon faces too (with the right paint on it) and as I want to start a Khorne Deamonkin army it seemed only appropriate to convert both Dracoth Lords to Jugger Lords. The biggest problem was that I had already assembled and glued together the first lord (with pvc glue) so it was hard to modify it.
I then started on the second model by reposing the dracoth, nothing to fancy but the head got a new angle and I reattached the "limb" paw that the original has. A arm of the posessed set at the tail and I was of to a more Chaos looking model. Next up was the front lion head and the question of keeping it or replacing it with something that has more Khorne iconography, well the head stayed but was upgraded with a pair of horns to make it different to the original. Spikes on the front upper leg armor and a pressmoulds of the skulls from the set to decorate the two back pieces of armor. That's pretty much all for the mount.
The Lord itself had a bit more work to it until it got to this stage. I started off with the Sigmarite Lord and removed the iconography and replaced it with Khorne ones, build a custom Axe of Khorne and cut the Mantle in shape to fit the new longer and repositioned weapon. Then I started toying with the idea of using the actual Khorne Lord's cape instead. Well I had to cut up my one Khorne Lord and the Celestant as well to make it fit. No regrets tho! He also got a new bare head that I found lying around. It has a nice wild look to it with the vampire teeth and open mouth.
Currently I'm doing the mounts neck so there might be an update tomorrow or later today.

But enough of the words, my new Khorne Lord on his mighty Juggernaut:

and his base:

Hey Anfauglir, thank you too for your kind response. I can't wait either, especially since I've been waiting two weeks for those paints now (they had to reorder something because it was out of stock which should've delayed it by a week). Anyway, I'll definetely keep you guys updated here as I am pretty thrilled to actually do some painting instead of tons of conversion, filling in gaps from repositions and cleaning off mold lines. I hope I can get my Jugger Lord done in time for the paints too, but that might be a bit to far out as the paints should hopefully arrive in the next couple of days.

@TheManWithNoPain
Both of those are absolutely great. I have a few ideas that would go in that direction too, but the Khorne Deamonkin just won the race for me
I have some bits to turn the Balrod model into Fateweaver for example

@Xendarc
Thank you! Although it is a lot of pressmoulding involved, especially those skulls, I have just discovered blue stuff

Here is a small update on the Lord:
I did one row of scales on my juggernauts back as I wanted a more armored look for it rather than the open skin, side neck protected original look. So now it was sitting around drying up and I was wondering what to do with the left arm of my lord. The plan is to run him with either an axe of khorne or a relic axe and a power fist meaning in my eyes I have two options:

1. Seeing that he has his rather big mutated claw hand grasping the axe I could count that as a power fist and therefore free up the left arm for something else.
This is just one idea for that:
It's a bit blurry on the mount (I just noticed that on here) but you get the idea. I'd use the original arm with the chain so that he would be holding on to his mount instead of his beloved pet dog. I like this idea because it also works well with the rather static pose of the model, especially since it seems like he is pulling the dracoths head up.

2. Giving him a power fist on his left arm. Sounds simple right? Well the problem here is that the upper arm stump is kind of limiting the poses here and although I would've went with and open embracing (hugging) arm position with the original celestant body, it just doesnt really fit in with the predefined right arm of the Khorne lord. The other idea I came up with is this:
The power fist would obviously be modified to be more chaotic but I only had a loyalist one around (or the DV choosen one but that one is still one the model) the fingers would ultimately be tightly gripping the head (maybe even a whole custom power fist for a better fit). The reason I like this pose is because it doesn't add a lot of motion to the model but yet gives the impression that he killed his first victim and is now stopping and issuing another challenge to his next prey.

Please let me know what you think of the ideas and if you could come up with an idea of yourself I would be more than happy to hear it and try it out!
P.S.: They've only send out my paints yesterday, so it might be another week....

Cheers

I like seeing him hold the chains of his mount.
Alternativly, as a hidden 3rd option you might consider giving him a closed power fist on his left arm and model him holding the reigns with it.

I feel that would accurately portray his loadout as well as giving him an assertive, more dominant feeling in regards to his mount.
Kinda makes the beast look more powerful by inferring that the strength (x2) of the powerfist is required to keep it under control while simultaneously showing that the rider indeed wields that power

That's my recommendation, hope it helps

I did think of that this morning too

Especially since the left arm allready has the huge fist-shield?! in place, so if I would just bump up the hand in size under it then it should be fine I think. That's what I'll try anyway

Here you go guys, that's what I came up with:
I did use a normal powerfist after all and just added a khorne pressmould on top of it after shaving down the top of the fist a bit. Quite happy with it and will be doing cleaning up on the fist and arm now.

Just a quick update for you guys. I got myself some Crypt Horrors today that I will be converting/using as chaos spawn (idea shamelessly stolen from KrautScientist, his Eternal Hunt army is truly one of the most epic Khorne armys I have laid my eyes upon, so I hope I will be forgiven and also that my models will do justice to his awesome concept) as well as two boxes of Bloodletters. That means I got some extra work coming my way and I'm expecting my paints tomorrow! The Nurgle DP will be primed tomorrow as soon as I get my hands on the package and I might just start painting right away too.
The Crypt Horrors are cleaned up and are getting put together right now, so pictures on them tomorrow too.

I repositioined the Khorne Lord into a slightly different pose and will be uploading pictures on that tomorrow to hear your opinion, the Power Fist arm is ready to go and only needs the chain to be attached to it (which wont happen until the dracoths neck is ready).

Cheers

Hey guys,
I'm going to need some input from you again as I now have two options for my Chaos Lords pose.

Option 1:
That's the one you already saw. Arms to the side and pretty much facing straight forward.

Option 2:
This is the new one, turning the upper body of the Lord so that his right arm is pointing forward (initiating a charge or pointing at a target)

Which one do you guys like more? I think I'm more into option two as it would give it a bit more action.

Anyway, I did receive my paints so I'll be working on my nurgle DP for a bit.
Before I received them I managed to assemble my Crypt Horrors/ Chaos Spawns, so here are some pictures of them.

Thanks man!

I got some supply drops and started assembling some more models while closing up the gaps on the ones that are already converted. Lord and mount are slowly but steadily closing in on getting finished, I've also started to work on some actual Juggers to ride along with him.
Biggest update is the head conversions on the Bloodletters (every hair was attached on its own...)

Enjoy!
The herald "Crazy Hair"

And three Jugger riders

Probably will go in and add a bit more hair for the riders, possibly making the back hair wider too, to create a more feral look. I love the Bloodletter models but dont really like the long back head and tongue sticking out, I think I found a good way online that suits me well.

Alright guys, after the break in updates over easter now finally some more pictures.

I completely assembled two Khorne Culstist Squads an finished my Khorne Jugger Lord as well as the 3 Spawns. Those models are all primed too and are waiting to be painted.
I tried my paint scheme on a quick conversion of the Bloodsecrator, simply gave him a Bloodletter hand with the sword and some wings in the back to proxy as a jumppack.

Meet Zhul!

Being born in a small tribe Zhul always had to fight for survival. However one unlucky day his fight became more dangerous than usual as his hunting party got ambushed by a hostile tribe. When Zhul was separated from his group and followed by a group of six tribesmen he barely managed to escape into a nearby cave. Knowing that he was outnumber he quickly looked for a place to hide. Running deeper into the cave he found himself facing a dead end, he stumbled over a rotting corpse that still had his fists clenched around its two weapons. Knowing that a fight was his only chance of survival Zhul picked up axe and sword to defend himself. When the roars of the advancing tribesman became louder Zhul prayed to whoever would listen for the strength to survive. Unkowingly he prayed to Khorne and his prayer was accepted, granting him strength and courage. With a newly found rage that Zhul could not explain he charged forward, killing the first tribesman with ease. He quickly butchered the other five attackers and then found himself standing in a cave filled with blood, guts and several heads that he had cut off in his rage. Not yet grasping what has happened he thanked the gods for protecting him, shortly after he finished he was brought to his knees by an excruciating pain in his back as a pair of wing emerged in between his shoulder blades. Khorne had accepted his slaugther and has gifted his new recruit as a reward.
For Zhul the events in the cave where only the beginning, his heart now thirsting for slaughter he decided that his fight for survival would only end if he would exterminate every other tribe on his planet. Only when he would accomplish that would he find peace, at least that was what he still believed...

Alright guys, more pictures! I finished up a cultist champion as well as making progress in his squad.

Meet Kazar, the first Cultist champion to join Zhul's cause!

Kazar was the first to hear about the events in the caves and the plans of Zhul to conquer and rule the rest of the tribes. Kazar himself cared not for uniting or ruling the tribes, he only cared for war and slaugther. He had always been among the strongest and wildest of his tribe, leading attack partys to raze nearby villages or sometimes to simply reduce their strength in numbers. When he made the decision to join Zhul's cause he stepped into the gathering house in his village and declared his new loyalty to Zhul. Outraged by this the two eldest of the tribe declared him an outcast and renowned his allegiance and place in the tribe. Kazar didn't care, he offered every one a simple choice, "Fight for me, or against me!". A call that only his closest brothers in arms would answer, enough however to overpower the guards protecting the eldest and so his old leaders fell to his axe. What followed was brutal slaughter, every person in the village that refused to join Kazar was hunted down and killed. Old or young, woman or child, it mattered little, for his mind could only know friend or foe. After every person not willing to join him was killed Kazar headed out of his village for the last time and along with him came his remaining seven brothers in arms, all drenched in blood just as Kazar himself. When he stepped before Zhul he offered him both heads of his eldest to prove his new loyalty.
"Let me be the first to join your cause and together we will create rivers of blood."

Here are some more WIP pictures as well as a challenge that awaits Zhul himself. I will also be picking up some Vampire death wolves?! tomorrow to play as my flesh hounds. If I finish up the hounds, cultist and Jugger Lord then I might bring the army to a tournament on saturday at my local GW. I have no 40k gaming experience so far so even if I go I am not expecting to much of a success
Spoiler:

First off we have the rest of the cultist squad in their unfinished shining beauty, still looking clean and fresh. I have a bit of housework to do but I will probably finish at least a couple more of them today. I also did a few minor conversions in terms of arm and head swaps as I have 40 of these guys. So far every one has its uniquie setup, but seeing that I could create 20 more of these I might end up with a few clones.

Next up is an "army shot" of my two currently painted models together, I did a bit of work on Zhul too. Painting his hair grey, drybrushing the wings a bit and adding a bit more splattered blood to his weapons.
I usually find that blood effects are easily overdone on Khorne models (and I know I did a lot...) but I feel that the lack of red in other parts of the model makes up for it. This way the blood splatters make for a fine contrast against the otherwise rather light colors (as well as the other colors being blue and green).
But let me know what you if you guys think it's to much or not.

And last but not least my Chaos Lord on his demon steed, he will get named and his story once he is completely painted. I am working on the mount right now every time that i have paint leftover from the cultists.

very cool conversions. the upside down bases are interesting also. just my personal preference but i'd go a little easier on the nihilakh. if you leave a little of the brass colour showing through it leaves a really nice contrast.

Thanks! The upside down bases were originally supposed to have a water/blood effect in them. Unfortunately the test I did on a seperate base turned out horrible, so now they just get a thick coat of Blood for the Blood God painted on them. I did try to go easy, I managed to get a cool spot with it on the back of one shoulder pad (not very useful for showing off tho) but I find it to be to thick to work with it like a shade color. I might try watering it down to see how that works.

Unfortunately I seem to be better (or at least faster and more motivated) in assembling and converting/kitbashing models than I am at painting them. That's why I have made little to no progress on my lord and cultists. I have however turned my DV Bikers into some Khornate Bikers, ready to be primed and deployed along my (body assembled, head missing) dire wolves or flesh hounds of khorne.

So here you go, my squad of 3 bikers, two with meltas:

I'll probably drill out the gun barrels and exhausts before priming, but then they are ready for good.

yeah man nihilakh should be fairly thin like a wash, but with a grainy consistency like a bad/unshook wash almost.. try adding a little water/thinner, then once its on, you can use a cloth or a sponge or something to wipe off the raised surfaces, leaving the corrosion nicely in the recessed areas

excellent conversion work.

I posted this already in the painting challenge post, but here is my newly build and painted chao sorcerer. I know he doesnt really fit the fluff of Khorne and I won't be able to field him with the Deamonkin book. But I wanted to build one anyway, maybe make some 1k sons out of the other sigmarites to go along with him and either use them as allys or for smaller games.

No background for him yet, althoug he is pretty good at fulfilling the burn role in "Kill, maim, burn!"

Here are some newly build "Sigmarines" to go with my Sorcerer. Question is, make them 1k sons, or add a bit more chaos and keep them as generic marines. The decision would affect the Champion, as he is still missing his weapons (right now I'm thinking of power sword and bolt pistol, so 1k sons). They still need a bit of touchup as well as their backpacks. I'm a big fan of the mask but not so much of the frowny face in it, so I'm also thinking about closing the mouth with putty at least on the generic ones (especially if I go the 1k sons route for rubric marines, or add in a random smiley face one? )

As always let me know what you think

Hope this doesn't count as thread necromancy (I was on vacation for 3 months), but I figured this thread is exactly where I'd continue on from now. So I thought there's no need to make a new one, so here we go again!

The Sigmarines are currently undergoing a workover due to me browsing to much 40k art. I'll post updates on them once I got the basic shape done (heads, backpacks mainly). I do have a sneak peak of what they might turn into at the end of the post tho.
Unfortunately no progress on any Khorne related stuff. The tribute DP in Terminator armor had quite a few setbacks (due to clay breaking after baking) and is not really that much further developed because of that (no pictures of him in here tho).

New day, new update! Almost done with my Word Bearer (only need to sculpt fire on the white piece on his left knee), did some candles and another piece of cloth/flesh on his back, added a loin cloth as well as adding fire to the little skull on his chest.

Any thoughts? Are the candles on the skeleton to much? If you open the pictures in my gallery and zoom in they turn a lot better in terms of quality.

This is for my other big project, all excess gs goes here

I'm 62 feathers into the wing (actually 72, but that's not what's on the picture ). Just the bottom row of feathers is 41 feathers per side, so 82 per wing (front and back) and 164 for both wings, then at least two more rows per wing per side so 248 more feathers. That's at least 412 more feathers more to go....

Yaaaaaay, I'm starting to hate feathers...

Cheers guys!
