Hello!

As we announce in our News thread before, we are starting this new topic to discuss gameplay of BlackRain: Alpha Strain. After the first round of closed alpha tests we revisioned the Corebook and unit entries, simplifing alot of it's content. We really hope you'll like it, but what we need most is an honest review after few battles with model profiles we provided.

After we take some feedback we'll make another round, adding more model profiles, including Mechs!

Don't forget to check our new topic, here on dakka: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/667765.page and supporst us on our Kickstarter campaign!

New rulebook version to download, new cards. If you are interested in the gameplay of BlackRain: Alpha Strain, leave a feedback in that new topic, please.

Rulebook is 32 pages now (raw text, without the cover), alot of stuff has been deleted, more simplified. Same with Model's cards.

Very soon I'm gonna prepare a Quick Start Rules Set as well.

I just want to commend you for "killing your darlings" and making the effort to simplify the game. 1 good idea, implemented well, is always better than a half-dozen ideas implemented haphazardly.

I look forward to the Quickstart / Intro rules, and hope you'll be able to release them during the KS for backers to try out.

Initial first impressions:

I was confused by Rules Priority and Resolving Rules Issues being so early in the document. I don't know any of the rules yet, so explaining how to resolve them feels premature.

I think the Resolution Phase in the Activation Order should be called the Preparation Phase. It is explained as such in the description, it prepares the characters for activation.

Adding a sub-section called The Models would help in understanding the role that the miniatures play in the game. Sizes, measuring, LoS etc.

Starting the whole document with a section of a battle report would help as well. It could set the tone and show a few steps of game play. Lore + Mechanics = a whole lot of hell yeah.

Keep at it!
