So, I'm getting back to the game after 10+ years. Since I had a decent amount of Khorne, I decided to start a KDK army.

I plan to start with my Bloodletters. I went with a color scheme that would compliment my Berserkers, who would be painted in a Horus Heresy era paint style.

Let me know what you guys think - anything I can do to make them pop? I have 20+ more to do...

  C&C welcome.

  Thanks in advance.

Looks good, but if you want him to pop you need to pull the highlights out more. maybe even to a orange-red color on the red and a light blue on the blue.

Yeah, it's nice. I like two-tone bloodletters - they can be quite boring otherwise (like mine are - lol).

I have had a lot of success with several layers of red for the skin. It really depends on what "look" your looking for. BUT I settled on this formula for all my Khorne Daemons and it turns out really nice. With a vibrant red that really contrasts any brass or golds that you might add, and adds a lot of deapth to the red.a little work but a lot of reward. IMO

1: Khorne red as a base for all the skin.
2: Washed the whole model with Agrax earthshade.
3: Dry brushed back over it with Khorne red to get them back to the deep red
4:then a lighter dry brush of Mephiston red
5: Hit them with a glaze of Bloodletter(try to not get it to much in the recesses, just hit all the raised area of the model)

I left my bloodletters at that but if you want to hit some highlights with some oranges after that it looks good on my bloodthirsters and bigger khorne Daemons.

I hope this was in any way a help!

I'd add green as a spot colour to get some pop, moot green eyes and a dark green sword with light green highlights will really stand out. I think that's how I painted those bloodletters actually. Might have a pic somewhere...

 Edit found it...
