Hi, I'm starting to build an AoS army. Would be great to get your comments if this seems like a good idea. Thanks!

I'm thinking to start like this:

Dreadlord on Black Dragon w/ Lance and Shield - 14
10x Executioners w/ full Command - 10
1x Reaper Bolt Thrower - 6

Then adding this:

5x Shades
Shadowblade (I like the idea of popping him out of the shades in the rear)
More Executioners and Bolt Throwers

Dragon is magnetized so I can switch to sorceress but I think the Dreadlord re-roll on 1 buff would work nicely with the Executioners.

Elves just got their armies updated and sadly the Bolt Throwers and Shades are no-longer available. So if you got a couple of them make sure you also have the warscrolls...since they are no longer part of AoS. Shadowblade is also no longer a named character, so you will want to find and hold on to that warscroll as well.

That all being said, its a decent start, Executioners are one of the better melee units. If you plan on expanding out into more types of units, I would follow the Thrall Warhost since you can bring the Sorc on Dragon and already have Executioners

Alternatively, if you wanted to move into more Calvary you can go for the Ebondrake Warhost

If you can still find it, the Dark Elf starter box is decent and can get you started the raider warhost as well while also supplying some warriors

As mentioned, Order recently got their Grand Alliance book. MongooseMatt gave a REVIEW of the new subfactions and see if there's anything there that interest you. If not, the older Warscrolls are still perfectly legal.

Thanks for the hints guys. Thrall Warhost sounds like a nice strikeforce to work towards!

Executioners are a powerful flanking unit, just don't try to use them as a rank unit. Be careful where you put them as well.

Crossbow men would be a good core to build around

This ^ and Dreadspears. I have a love for Dreadspears and you can really hold ground with them in a large numbers. Bleakswords: Same stats as Dreadspears, but Swords and Shields.I like them in smaller units, used on the offense. Not as generally useful as Dreadspears, but still a pretty solid unit.

Is the warhost of naggaroth a good place to start? I found a good deal on it. Thinking about picking it up. What would be some good army options with this. Or how should it be built? My flgs wound balances
