OttLite Lamps are awesome. You're in the States, so the best thing to do is get it at Michael's. Wait until there is a 50% off discount coupon (almost every week) and get it with that as they are pricey. I ended up paying $35 for mine and love it. The bulb IS expensive, though.

Totally, get an Ottlite. I bought my first one at Michael's with the 50% discount, but have since bought a cheap one off Amazon that uses the same bulb. I can't paint anymore with natural light since getting one.

You can get the black one for $24.

yup if you can't afford an ottlite or its cousins, get yourself a full spectrum (daylight) light bulb or two to throw in some lamps.

What I used for a couple of years was a cheap LED headlamp, I think it was this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TI8GSHY?psc=1 It worked well for me personally, and I got it on sale at a hardware store, one of the clips broke, and I didn't really need it any more, but it does work on the cheap if you want something that only works, and is cheap, nothing fancy and honestly YMMV

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard. |

I've always used OTT lamps until recently and they're great, but I recently rigged a dual bulb shop light, with full spectrum daylight bulbs, to my harbor freight workbench, the thing is totally amazing!
Having good/big light really does make a difference, I first noticed when I went to paint eyes and I wasn't struggling for once!

The portable ones that fold are pretty nice, especially if you sometimes paint at your club or a friend's house, or in different parts of your house/apt.
I am fortunate enough to have a dedicated paint space in my current house, you can see the lamp I rigged to it ha (they're full spectrum daylight bulbs) and I love it!

I use one of these. Its so powerful I can't use it at full brightness, instead I operate it at about half power. It memorizes your preferred setting and also has a button that allows you to shuffle between medium, high & low brightness. I'm very happy with it.

Yeah $200 for a lamp is more then i want to spend honestly. Second I really hate dickblick, everytime i have ordered from them (twice) I have had issues. So I will not place another order with them.
