Greetings Fellow Forumites,

I need your help. I am not really that into WWII gaming, but I have a small skirmish game that I want to play based around the TV Show Combat! For the game, I need about a dozen or so German Army and about a dozen or so American Army Infantry. These guys will represent the Stars from Combat! and the baddies.

Since the game is focused on individual models, I am looking for some 28mm or 20mm minis with a lot of individual character. I imagine I will need to do some light modifications to make Sgt. Saunders, Kaje, Kirby, Littlejohn, and the like.

The Americans will need at least one guy with a Thompson and 1 guy with a BAR. I would like the Germans to have at least one MP-40 and one MG42. There is no need for Grease Guns, assault rifles, bazookas, flame-throwers, or Panzerschreks. The show takes place between D-day and the capture of Paris, so models for that time frame would be grand.

Spoiler:

So, what manufacturers and models do you recommend that I look into for my needs? Thanks for the help!

I would recommend Warlord's US Army Infantry and German Panzergrenadier (1944-1945 uniforms) kits. They are plastic, come with a large variety of weapons, and pretty easy to put together. They do come with 30+ infantry though.

Plastic Soldier Company also produces WWII American & German infantry in smaller squad kits. They are not as dynamic but a similar quality to Warlord's Bolt Action line.
