I thought I'd do a more generic video this time around. A lot of people struggle with roadblocks in painting which can cause a lot of frustration due to "not seeming improvement at the speed I want." In this video I give a few steps as to how to crush those roadblocks and become the painter you were always meant to be!

I tell people you're only as good as your tools. I found a box with some old paintbrushes from years back. I can't believe I got anything done with those. Buying decent brushes and regularly cleaning them with brush cleaner worked wonders for me.

I disagree with it, kinda. I use some synthetic sable from Hobby town. pack of 8 brushes for like 10$ and they work great because I take care of them.

I sorta agree on the tools. You don't need amazing $40 brushes to paint your Space Marines. But I wouldn't buy cheap $5 brush sets either. My brushes are about $10 apiece, I take care of them and they work very well

I used to play tyranids, so I got really bored and ended up rushing through painting seemingly endless gaunts, and I think the boredom and rushing was what effected my painting.

Now Im painting things I find more interesting to paint and my skill seems to have improved. I dont think Ive gotten better, but I feel my attention is being held by the model im working on.

^ i agree. The more interesting the model the better i seem to do and i'm more motivated to finish it, like i have had a squad of noise marines just sitting around for months but i just got an imperial knight and i have spent many hours working on it so far trying more complex techniques to try and make it look better than alot of my other stuff.

The mind-curdling cacophony of the battlefield! Shape it, savour it, add to it until your senses shake and your minds quiver with deafening bliss!

I got burned out of painting Imperial Fists for a few years. Decided a few days ago to swap completely into Black Templars. Been painting solid since.

Yeah, i had a period where I simply didn't want to paint due to the monotony of it all. That's why people paint 1000-3000 point armies and then leave to paint a different army. That's what I did, and I love painting yet again!

I can relate to what you guys are saying. I can't paint units of guys anymore. Painting 1 highly detailed model is so much more appealing. Thanks for commenting!

I tend to change it up i do lots of painting then suddenly get frustrated and bored then i go into terrain building mode and build a whole table worth of ruins or something then get back into the painting like a wild thing.

Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.
