flgs carries the minis.
A few Qs:
1) Is it progression based, or skirmish/character based?
2) How long does the average game take?
3) How are the rules compared with, say, Blood Bowl? Is it a bit more 'serious'?
4) Starter boxes seem to have 3 miniatures per box for each faction, is that enough figures for a basic game?
Guild Ball is not quite as crazy over the top as Blood Bowl. In a full game, as stated earlier you have a team of 6: A captain, a mascot(which actually does play as part of the team) and then four other players: either ones from your particular guild, or ones from "The Union," a mercenary guild that you can field as its own team, or their members will each play for certain other teams. You can play smaller games with just starter boxes, but those don't tend to be as balanced, and really are better for just learning the game mechanics.
The basic rules are pretty easy to learn, and each player has its own special abilities and playbook. Much like Warmachine, all of these are on cards which you can easily refer to during the game.
It's a really good ruleset, with great balance between the teams and a lot of fun to play. You can also go to the Steamforged website
http://steamforged.com/guildball, and download the rules, templates, cards and paper dolls for the players to print out and use, so you can try it out with basically the cost of printing on card paper. Just a quick note to be aware of when printing: as it's an English game, the paper size is slightly different than in America, so you'll have to adjust your printing.
There's also a really good review/explanation of the game that Tabletop Gaming did, you can find it here:
