Is it the same 'rotor cannon' mentioned in Book 1 (p233)? If so, it's 30" range, S3 AP6 Salvo 3/4. That one's called both a 'rotor cannon' and a 'rotor gun' though, which isn't too clear.

The Vorax don't seem to fit in with the general aesthetic of Mankind's machinery. It is nice to see a Crusader robot homage, but the bug eyes are off putting somewhat.

Well, it does fit into the more techno-organic look of the Mechanicum.

it's not in hh3, but the other books, which sucks and I'd wish FW would stop doing that.

I wish they'd do some female conversion bits for IG. I'm starting to get bored with the great crusade.

It's all directly through her own site. But hey, shipping fees are not atrocious and any other over $50 gets free shipping.

On moon miranda.

I'm really liking the Vorax, they look excellent. Not so sure about their rules, their firepower and armor looks really light, and the programmed behavior rules are painful, especially for what they cost (particularly in comparsion to something like Canoptek Spyders), but I'm definitely going to pick a unit up, if for no other reason than just to paint them.

Well, the thing is that what FW is producing is Mechanicum units from the 30th millenium.

What JB depicts in his artwork is the Adeptus Mechanicus from the 41st millennium, they are what rose from the ashes of the Heresy and the Martian civil war, similar yet still very different, than what they once where.
Then add 10.000 years of technological regression and philosophical stagnation - There you find John Blanches Adeptus Mechanicus.

The Mechanicum embraced innovation and progression, to build upon the works of those that came before end in that way restore mankind to what it had been before the fall of Old Night, to the Adeptus Mechanicus, this philosophical viewpoint is Heresy on a grand scale.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

IIRC, they are actually not bad, they are monstrous creatures, and are around T6 with 4 wounds I think. Can't remember what save they have. They are really rapid though, and I think they have 2 rotor cannons, not one twin-linked rotor cannon, so are kicking out 8 shots and a lighting gun shot. Also have battle-automata power blades, and have fleet. I think they are I4 or something too, so they are pretty rapid. Programmed behaviour is not much of an issue for them I don't think, because they are intended to go out on their own and charge into whatever is in the way. With AP2 close combat attacks, and rending from the power blades, they can shred pretty much anything in combat.

Fair enough, it's just that he's so influential to the aesthetic of 40K.

That's true - good point. I guess they had to create their own look for the 30K Ad Mech stuff, the direction they took just doesn't appeal to me, personally. It looks 'generic' in a way, like it could have come from any one of these recent mini war gaming Kickstarters.

I know that this is far ahead, but I had heard whispers of Tau being reworked, or re-released again for the Kroot that are MIA on the FW site. Do we know or have any more info on IA 14 possibly being Tau, more specifically possibly Kroot based? I would be so happy if it was the Kroot book we have all been waiting for that is more current.

Well, they appear pretty short because of their hunched posture, but they are actually on 60mm bases and yes, they are monstrous creatures in their rules. If you look at the images on the FW website, one of them is shown in a scale shot next a Marine, and it doesn't look so small then. It is not that dissimilar in size to an Imperial Guard Sentinel, although it is a bit shorter and wider. Is still on the bottom end of monstrous creature-ness though to be fair.

FORGE WORLD BULLETIN #39

It’s been a while since I’ve taken a look at what’s happening in the Forge World Studio. So, hot on the heels of the Alpha Legion and Word Bearers Contemptor Dreadnoughts I showed you a few weeks ago, I thought I’d bring you a sneak peek of a new Imperial Fists Contemptor Dreadnought on Israel Gonzalez’ workbench.

The Imperial Fists Contemptor Dreadnought is close to being ready.

Duncan Rhodes, who you’ll know as the presenter of the How to Paint Citadel Miniatures videos, has been working on some very cool models of his own. Duncan’s been building his own Imperial Knights army and has painted them in the heraldry and colours of House Griffith from Codex: Imperial Knights. His army is being led by a Cerastus Knight-Lancer, which Duncan has converted to carry a battle cannon.

Duncan’s formidable converted Cerastus Knight leads his Household.

The full might of Duncan's House Griffith.

That’s all from me for now. Make sure you check back soon for more from the Forge World Studio.

Chris.

For a second there my disappointment at them releasing yet another contemptor took a back seat to the joy at seeing what I thought was a new variant of Knight. But then I saw it was only a conversion and all I am left with is yet another variant of contemptor being released. Yawn...

Hm... didn't someone recently criticize that FW release schme is something like Contemptor-Contemptor-Knight-Contemptor-SomethingElse-Knight-Contemptor?
Well, the bulletins certainly match that pattern...

That was I. Still waiting on the Styrix. Don't get me wrong, I like the Vorax and though I think the solar IG troops look silly at least they are releasing new stuff.

That would piss me off. Having already perminately attached the weapons on my Lancer and Castigator. Anyone want to take a guess as to when the 40K version of the 30K IK list will show up?

i wish they'd hurry up and release phase-plasma fusil thallax squads, i've been waiting for those since HH betrayal!

in relation to the knights on the latest bulletin:
something in my mind is saying that despite how awesome it would be to have customizable knights, i dont think thats going to happen.
i think the 'warlord' knight will have options to basically set him up as any of the knights they plan on releasing so you could have any knight from your collection as the warlord in a game.

further, i think that the guy with the knight army is just using the lancer chassis as his warlord representing a knight paladin. the shield generator cant be removed or upgraded despite the background picture on page 231 of HH extermination showing one without it on the same page as its rules.
