Ok, so for my first foray into the world of list-building, I decided to create an army that consisted of models I already owned and were already more or less done, and needed as little as possible that would still be new. Considering that my main force at the moment is my 30K Thousand Sons, I was able to work a large handful of Mark IV armor into a verifiable 40K CSM list. So:

Primary Detachment:
Ahriman
Thousand Sons (9 TSons, 1 Aspiring Sorcerer w/Gift of Mutation and Meltabombs and Force Stave), Icon of Flame
Chaos Rhino (Combi-Bolter, Dirge Caster, Dozer Blade, Havoc Launcher)
Thousand Sons (9 TSons, 1 Aspiring Sorcerer w/Gift of Mutation and Meltabombs and Force Stave), Icon of Flame
Chaos Rhino (Combi-Bolter, Dirge Caster, Dozer Blade, Havoc Launcher)
Chaos Relic Sicaran (Armoured Ceramite, Lascannon Sponsons)

Cyclopia Cabal:
Sorcerer 1: +2 ML, VotLW, The Eye of Night, Spell Familiar, Mark of Tzeentch, Bike, Bolt Pistol, Force Axe, Sigil of Corruption
Sorcerer 1: +2 ML, VotLW, The Skull of Ker'ngar, Spell Familiar, Mark of Tzeentch, Bike, Bolt Pistol, Force Axe, Sigil of Corruption
Sorcerer 1: +2 ML, VotLW, Scrolls of Magnus, Spell Familiar, Mark of Tzeentch, Bike, Bolt Pistol, Force Axe, Sigil of Corruption

So there we go! 1849 out of 1850 (according to BattleScribe). This is definitely just a fun list to allow me to practice working with psychic powers, as my first army was Tau and I used to just kind of skip that part of the Basic Rule Book. So yeah, feel free to throw some feedback, different ideas, what have you. And thanks for taking the time!

Like the list, you probably already know the stigma around t sons so I probably don't have to lecture you on that, lol . The cabal formation is very good, and running them on bkes is a good idea. A relic sicaran will help you with competitiveness, and provide good shooting. Although very elite, this list is themed and cool, and will do fine in a casual environment.

They're Tzeentch marked so drop a relic (scrolls of Magnus) and get them on discs!

I thought I was doing so good too!

In reference to shieldbrother, there's stigma for t sons? I play casually currently, and this was just a way to bring my 30k list into 40k without changing models too much.

Intercessor: I may very well try that. Currently, I have the bikes being modeled for wacky sorcerer nonsense. I may need to come up with something for sorcerers on discs as well.

Thanks so much for the help!

TSons are right up there in the running for not only worst units in the CSM dex, but in the entirety of 40k. They've always been pretty bad and have generally only gotten worse each edition.

You don't need the gift of mutation on the sorcs, the dirge casters on the rhinos and you don't need the icons on the sons. Probably don't need the dozer blades either since those rhinos are probably both dead turn 1.

Find the points for some spawn to escort the cabal since they're going to draw a boatliad of fire and T5 with 3W is good for protecting your squishy models, even if it's only on turn 1.

The squad sarges should always have power axes since it will let them have a chance at killing characters (that 4++ can do some serious work at times) while the staff will just bounce off 2+ armour.

Conversely, staves work best on HQ sorcs since they can roll biomancy and get iron arm which hands out smash, making them Str 9 AP2 at initiative.

The eye of night is bad and the scrolls are just plain terrible. Since you're playing the black legion tax, pick up the last memory of yuranthos. It hands out an extra ML, sunburst and with the spell familiar, at least gives you the option to try and clear the board of cover campers if you don't mind a little risk.

Totally second the idea of giveing all the sorcerors disks. Good mobility and awesome modeling opportunity for only a handful more points.

Keep in mind that 15 + d6 wap charge is decent, but won't go far if you want more than 4 - 5 spells cast a turn, even with spell familiars on the cabal.

Let us know how it goes, looks like a fun list to play in a casual environment (though it's going to be a rude shock going from Tau to CSM).

Great advice from Drasius. I think there's only one way to make a fluffy Thousand Sons list work and it involves Forgeworld

Ok, by following Drasius's advice, I was able to get the Srocerers on discs, and found room for 3 spawn. Picked up some Necron warscythes that I'm turning into staves. Good times.

Found a solid disc to use from the old fantasy line. One Sorc will ride the disc from the Gaunt Sorcerer pack, the other two will replace heralds on theirs. Probably be a good time to learn and practice with the airbrush.

Intercessor- thoughts on making TSons work with Forgeworld? I am definitely not opposed to them.

A stigma about how bad they are, lol. You're definitely not gonna get the stink eye for using these at the FLGS, but competitive people will definitely lecture you about it.

If you don't mind dismissing the fluff for competitiveness, you could always play them as normal csm that look very tzeentchian.

Icon of flame and GoM are two upgrades that do not tend to earn their points back. In fact, you have bought a lot of upgrades I feel are unnecessary.

You need some anti-vehicle weapons that can join your infiltrating squads of TSons turn one. Maulerfiends or Tri-las predators are the ways to go here in my opinion. You need to be able to pop transports so you can shoot the gooey insides!

If you aren't too attached to it, i'd drop the cabal. Fun as it is, you have too much running on magic and the cabal is very fragile-looking to me.

This a play on my list. Rather than disks, get an aegis defense line and go demonic maelific. Summon pink heralds, pink horrors and lords of change/ That can add 3 warp charges on turn 1 or 6 if you sacrfice a cultist to summon in heralds sacrficing a cultist. The horrors give you units to contest/control objectives. So 15 warp charges T1 18-21 on T2 if you go summoning on the heralds that can further add to you demonic horde and add further warp charges. In a pinch sacrifice a sorcerer to add a Lord of Change.

I would go force axe, force sword, force staff on the sorcerers so if you have a challenge, you can accept with the most appropriate S AP3 at initiative, S+1 AP2 at I1 or S+2 AP4 at initiative/
