Hey mates quick question for you guys. Have my models in place to do my SM Army, and at this point I am just debating on which paint scheme to go. Basically, it's either Black Templars (#1) or Imperial Fists 1st Company (#2). Just let me know your opinion and why. Will be using Forgeworld MKIII Space Marines as my Infantry, and I will be utilizing other Chapter tactics and Army Special Rules as there isn't a rule that days I can't lol.

Do the Fists. You are too good at painting yellow not to do Fists.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Oh man. Such a tough choice.

Templars were my chapter of preference during my own dark age of hobbying a decade ago.

Halfway through my army I realized how much cooler it would've been to have a counts-as BT Fists army with an EC like the example youve chosen. The fluff for Sigismund is just something I found so inspiring.

I can't remember where I read the bit about the EC getting into a rhino and approaching a hole in the battlements and issuing a challenge to some Chaos champ/demon/whatever it was, but it was

.Sick.

"Hey. DId he say rings are cool?!"
"No. He said They're Stupid."

"Cool!!"

Imperial Fists are more eye catching IMO.

Do a little bit of paint armor chipping instead of edge highlighting and your good to go!

Why not both.

Make your own successor chapter that works between the two types.

Otherwise Fists since you could probably get away with using iconography from the BT anyway.

This!

Story wise, I LOVE the Imperial Fist and everything they are and stand for. But I suck at painting yellow and wanted to make my own chapter any way, so I did. They are a 9th Founding Chapter from the Imperial Fists. As they aren't painted yet, their full color scheme isn't designed but it's based of gold armor (similar to the AoS not-Marines, though my idea was before AoS was known). The fun part of doing your own chapter is you'll get to design the color scheme and pattern for them. The hard part comes with not being able to find transfer that'll work!

Love your two painting examples, no matter what you choose, I can not wait to see the result!
