Hey You,

So I finally decided to start selling away most/all of my collection and devote a small portion to making a Militarum Tempestus force.

Concept Art and the process
Spoiler:

I dislike the head and torso of the Scions, but I like everything else well enough especially when exclusively using Head M (Mask and Beret). So I scoured the Googleplex searching for Scion conversions and alternatives. I dislike the common choices for my own collection and so while looking around for GW modeling options I found a Servitor conversion using Scion legs and a Sicarian Rustalker torso. Instantly I fell in love. Here is the plan: modify and cast compatible torsos for up to roughly 40 Scions.

Colour Scheme: Black Armor, Purple Cloth with black/gray/white splotches and dots in a urban camo theme, and bright green night vision for the tech screens and lenses.
Extra Modeling: Add las gun stocks to each hell gun and reduce power cords to only the magazine.

Now on to the fluff.

I have been calling the armor pattern, due to the Ryza Pattern Scion Carapace and Sicarian Battle Plate: 'beta Ryza-Sicarian Pattern Carapace Battle-Plate (CBP)' . The center Iron Man thing is their iteration of the Monoscope used for surveillance of troopers as described in the MT codex.

This in turn has led me to name the regiment the 42nd Ryza Stormtrooper Company. I understand that Ryza does not have Imperial Guard Regiments due to their skitarii, but maybe these stormtroopers are titled this way because they are a Regiment of Detachments. They are the result of two obliterated regiments combining forces into one whole.

Any thoughts so far?

My current ideas:
-Infiltrator (Splinter Cell) Task force
- Urban Night Ops Ork Hunters
-Rhinos as Taurox Primes with TxP Turrets for WYSIWYG.
- Lots of Plasma Guns
- Allied Executioner, Jungle Fighter Squad, and some Gun Servitors for Ryza Defense Force nod game wise.
- Ordo Xenos Inquisitors (specifically Ork hunters)
- Assassins
- The 'Hellguns' were formed from the burning crater if two regiments, the 78th Hell Bats and the 120th Roscovian Stormtrooper Company, now they take in recruits from the infinite orphaned children of Ryza as the war rages with no foreseeable end.
- 120-78=42

Ideas on modeling, fluff, and army list are welcomed; I'm not too picky at the moment for specific matters.

Hasslefree has some great minis if you're custom casting.

In terms of fluff, I think Tempestus is wholly separate from the IG. You might want to read Starship Troopers, it's modeled after the Brit Para regiment and it'll probably give you a lot of ideas.

I like to think of the actual GW Tempestus fluff as imperium propaganda, a regiment involved in actual effective operations can't afford to be so ideological.

I checked out HF minis, they have a cool Commander Cobra torso option that I like, but I will keep with the sicarian Battle-Plate torso piece.

I have been donning a similar understanding of MT, but not completely throwing out the new stuff. I interpret them as the old stormtroopers, but with an adoption of some of the new stuff. If the new fluff was meant to be just propoganda, there would be some things left out that aren't. The fluff stories in the codex still show personality in the soldiers, so they aren't drones, more like heavily influenced minds in terms of morality and instincts. The Wiki does a nice job of incorporating all the stormtroopers together as different origin stories depending on their codex and background. For example, Inquisitional Stormtroopers in Codex: Inquisition are acolytes that have been sent to Schola by Inquisitors and rules wise are not trained for infiltration but for something more like bodyguard work.

This is good thought provoking stuff for the root background of the individual soldiers, what about the Ryza bits? Are my ideas so far logical and interesting? What about the game representation, what should I focus on aside from a whole lot of plasma? Heavy Stubbers would be pretty good to flavor the army with, they can sit on the Rhino TxP's.

My thoughts so far on the Rhino TxP is that due to the Rhino being more easily manufacturable, this crossover variant sacrifices hull integrity for better engines and handling that can keep up with not only the needs of the fire team, but also too keep up with any Speed Freekz.
