It's been years since I've started an army from scratch, so I figured I'd do a blog on the painting/modeling and elicit from feedback. Everyone has a Space Marine army, except for me, and I wanted to run one after reading the Ravenguard rules and playing against them and with them (borrowing models to see if I like the playstyle). Interestingly, they played a bit like my Eldar utilizing a lot of special rules and great mobility. I also wanted to build an army I had not seen anyone really field. I liked the Death Spectres color scheme and slightly tweaked it and found a 3D printing company that can make nearly any shoulder pad I need. Quality is better than GW products to be honest and the shoulder pads were attached at their bottom portion, so clipping and cleanup was easier.

Anyways, here is a Tactical Squad I'm nearing completion on. I'm going to use wire to connect the backpack and Grav Cannon (mainly b/c I stink at building models).

I don't know what to base them with as of yet. They are a dark model, so I'm thinking of a bit of color to help. Overall, I'm looking for a tabletop quality standard as I've got about 45 more models to go. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Still need to finish the backpack/tubes for the Grav Cannon Marine, but the squad is near completion.
