Finally finished my Company Master last night, and despite the wings and feathers being a serious PITA (painting black and white together in tiny, curved lines is very challenging) I love the way this guy turned out. The purple cloak doesn't show up in these photos as well as I would like, as my cell phone camera isn't very good, but overall very pleased.

As you said, poor photos...but he looks excellent.

If anyone has suggestions for a decent, not insanely expensive camera, I would love some advice in that area.

Looks like you simply need better lighting. Is your phone camera set to macro?
