Hi guys, I've been looking over the new Angels Blade and its given me the inspiration to pull out my old blood angels that have been gathering dust for the last year. From what I can tell the new formations don't really help out as much as I'd like as for the most part they seem too expensive/restrictive? However I'm happy to be proven wrong. I've done a rough list below but I dont think it's very good to be honest and I'm happy for it to be pulled apart and completely re-made if anyone is willing to help with that. I mostly play against Tyranids with Hive Tyrants/crones, Space Wolves with TWC and Tau.

Death Company Strike Force (964 Points):

Death Company Chaplain

Death Company Dreadnought
: Blood Talons, Drop Pod

Death Company Squad: x7 Marines, Jump Packs, x5 Bolt Pistol/CCW, x1 Bolt Pistol/Power Maul, x2 Boltgun/Power Fist, x1 Infernus Pistol

Death Company Squad: x7 Marines, Jump Packs, x5 Bolt Pistol/CCW, x1 Bolt Pistol/Power Maul, x2 Boltgun/Power Fist, x1 Infernus Pistol

Death Company Squad: x7 Marines, Jump Packs, x5 Bolt Pistol/CCW, x1 Bolt Pistol/Power Maul x2 Boltgun/Power Fist

Baal Strike Force/ CAD - I can't decide which - (880 points):

Librarian Dreadnought: Lv 2, Drop Pod

Furioso Dreadnought: Frag Cannon, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod

Tactical Squad: x5 Marines, Heavy Flamer, Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod

Tactical Squad: x5 Marines, Heavy Flamer, Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod

Assault Squad: x5 Marines, Jump Packs, x2 Melta

Assault Squad: x5 Marines, Jump Packs, x2 Melta

Total Points: 1844

I'd knock both DC squads down to 7 and exhange those power swords for power fists, or at the very least power mauls/axes.

I'd also drop the scouts in favor of more upgrades for other units. Maybe combi-meltas on your Assault Squad sergeants or perhaps some inferno pistols for your DC

I made some changes similar to what you suggested, I added a frag cannon/heavy flamer to the furioso and instead of combi melta on the assault squad I went with combi flamers on the tactical squads and infernus pistols. I changed it to x2 Power fists/x1 power maul in the DC squads.

I have to comment on this. I'm running quite similar list actually.

Death company strike force

Death company chaplain
6man death company + jump packs + thunder hammer + power sword

7man death company + jump packs + power fist + power sword + inferno pistol

7man death company + jump packs + power fist + power sword + inferno pistol

Stormraven gunship
Death company dreadnought + blood talons

CAD/BSF

Sanguinary priest + pistol
5man tactical squad + heavy flamer
rhino

5man scout squad + 4x sniper + missile launcher

Furioso dreadnought + frag cannon + heavy flamer
drop pod

Furioso dreadnought + frag cannon + heavy flamer
drop pod

5man sternguard + 4x combi-melta
drop pod

I have found that stormraven & DC dread is good for the assault. Drop podding DC dread just gets me immobilized or destroyed before effectiveness. Fragiosos always do the job some how, also DC dread against any HQ/warlord enemy has when it's deployed from the SR. And SR gives me some heavy support what my "into the face" lists usually lacks. I start with both flanks equally, I let enemy go first if possible. Then I concentrate with T2 drop pod on the flank with less threat. First blood and slay the warlord is my base for the road to victory. Haven't played against TWC's yet, but for space wolves I have a OIF&GH with Karlaen.

I do like it but I always worry about lone Stormravens blowing up, especially with expensive squads of death company inside. Do you not find that an issue?

Nope, or at least not yet any way!

Okay. Even without death from the skies i prefer shooty units in the stormraven so they don't have to stay inside. On the other hand, jinking doesn't affect assault units at all.

I shy away from dc dreads because av 12 is significantly weaker than av 13. I also prefer the shooting ability of frag furiosos. WS 5 helps too.

If they have jump packs I guess I don't need to run them in the raven if Im facing a lot of anti air?

Dc dread is only because it's a requirement for the formation otherwise I'd agree with you. Although 8 attacks on the charge (9 if within 12" of the Chaplain) is nothing to sniff at.

This is why I kind of hate formations. If you have to take a DC dread, I'd take my chances in the Raven and jink it if you have to. Don't forget extra armor on the raven, and maybe the dread, too.

Would you mind PMing me a full breakdown of the points? I've tried putting it together and I'm coming up with 1861?
