Ok...I use 20 Grey Hunters, 5 terminators, Krom, a drop pod, and a venerable dread with axe and shield... I'm thinking the space wolves start collecting is up next. The WL gets me my 2 HQ for forge org, I can play with some weapons with the additional 10 marines, and the cavalry is self explanatory. Where after that? What else would round this modest crew out? Another 3 cavalry? Thanks for ideas!

That depends on the theme of the list that you're going for? Do you have a picture of how you imagine your army to play? The two extremes of the spectrum is to run an MSU type army where you have tons of little units on the table spread out everywhere and it works particularly well with drop pod armies. On the other hand, you can go all in with a big unkillable deathstar unit and try to smash your opponent with that single unit.

I'm not super competitive.. I like painting and infantry armies a lot (main squad is about 3k pts of painted orks)... that said, I picked up SW to break out of infantry only armies. I'm def gonna grab the Start Collecting box, but fluff and "style" are indifferent... SW is my competitive, "I want to win after seeing a gory green mess all the time" army. So.. winning is my style on these guys I guess lol

Since you got a drop pod, I'd say start there and grab more! Other than that, most SW armies I've seen run some sort of Deathstar with either thunderwolves or wulfen. What makes them nigh unkillable is the synergy of psykers which you can grab to throw down some powers to make them harder to kill. Alternatively, you can do what I've seen a few players do which is flood the table with puppy dogs (fenrisian wolves) lol. So drop pods more or less to alpha strike and hold ground, deathstar to just finish your opponent off in a decisive blow.

You've got almost 30 Grey Hunters. You have some Cavlry, and are going to have Wolflord/WGBL... also Terminators and a Pod. Also a Ven Dread.

Then I'd suggest going:
• Arjacs formation, in a Land Raider
• Pod the Grey Hunters with the Deathpack formation, so they'll stay close to that Wolflord
• Grab an Iron Priest or two on Thunderwolf Mount with Cyberwolves for each to join a TWC squad.

You'll have:
• A Bossy Formation that rocks anything it hits (I recommend TH/SS) via Arjac in Land Raider (once all that's able to eliminate that Land Raider is gone, it can push everything around haha quite funny when that happens).
• Plasma to the max on the GH squad of the Deathpack, even to the point of taking TEQ pack leader with combi plasma, hit hard when lands. Add a rune priest (plasma pistol?) And living lightning, all on rear armour - and take out whole squadrons of tanks in a turn. (Notice I use plural for SquadronS, as Psyker powers can target independantly)
• have a couple cost-effective miniStars that can strike the flanks while your plasma drop and Land Raider absorb the focus.

=)
