What do people think is going to happen with the Thousand Sons? It seems we'll be getting a Magnus model and some new rubric plastics, but do we know if anything else is on the way? More models? New rules? Is there any hope of a Thousand Sons supplement?

I'd like to hear some speculation here, since I'm none too experienced with navigating the discount Eye of Terror that is 40k rumormongering, and it's an army I want to include in my CSM list, mostly for fluff and modelling reasons.

Well, in 30k, it looks like they are going to be awesome, and have unsurpassed psychic capabilities.

In 40k, it looks like they are going to get a significant power boost with the addition of Magnus, but I would not be surprised to learn Rubric marines stay the same in terms of price / rules.

In other words, wait for the rules to hit before you pin your hopes on being able to use them on the tabletop. I have 60 TS models and can't fit them into a 2,000 point list.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

My guess is the warzone fenris pt 2 will be a mirror of part 1, as in we will get a couple of formations and, if we're lucky, a new detachment that will be a bit better than the black crusade one.
Although seeing as we recently got the black crusade detachment and formations I don't think we will get a lot, we'll get something (maybe something nice), but not much.

Pretty sure Magnus and the new plastic Rubrics will come with a book or be included in a new book (Fenris?). But the question for me now is, are they getting terminators? I think everyone will be disappointed if the big 4 don't get specific terminators as well.

New plastic cult troops are fantastic. But without plastic cult terminators it's all kind of a let down.

I hope for a revamp of TS, but my fear is that they will do like they did with Khorne Daemonkin.

They will refuse to fix the basic statline originated in that masterpiece of the original CSM codex.

Is sad, because a small point reduction, and 2 basic attacks for Berzerkers and 2 basic Wounds for TS would not fix the issues but make them more bearable.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?

I would love some simple changes. A small points drop in the rubrics would be amazing, and having the option of lugging around special weapons like a tzeentchian soul blaze flamer, maybe an autocannon and heavy Bolter to utilize slow and purposeful.

I would like to see the ability to take aspiring sorcerers instead of aspiring champions in normal marine squads. Several interesting ideas came up online on improvements to the army:

Through Mind Not Might: If the army is made through the new codex detachment, you may exchange aspiring champions for aspiring sorcerers at no point cost.

Sorcerous Ammunition: Units with aspiring sorcerers may expend a warp charge point to do one of 3 things once per turn: +2 S to bolt weapons, -2 AP to bolt weapons (cannot exceed ap3), or ignore cover.

Inferno bolts and icon of flame stays same.

Ahriman and aspiring sorcerers may purchase spell familiars.

There should definitely be a new, fully fleshed out psychic table for Tzeentch and possibly Thousand sons themselves.

Masters of Change: When choosing a number of warp charge dice to roll, add one additional die from outside of the warp charge pool if the power you are attempting to cast came from the Tzeentch Table, the Thousand Sons Table, or from the Malefic Daemonology Table. This may mean that you choose 0 dice, and only roll with the 1 extra you received.

My most telling sign is that on the new magnus box, it doesn't say

"chaos space marines"

it says

"Thousand Sons"

I can see a mini-codex.

GSC style, I think it will include Magnus, new rules for Ahriman, Rubrics, probably some sort of lame melee variant with incredibly clunky and awkward rules extremely overpriced with zero redeeming qualities UNLESS you buy 5 boxes of the new kit and field them in the formation, then they all get to DS no scatter turn 1 and charge in the assault phase. I predict lots of power swords, since GW loves power swords, but they'll probably have slightly better rules and be called "Dustblades." The melee variant will be called "Dustbringers." The Tzaangor cultists will come out but they'll be called "Dustchildren."

The thousand sons relic list will include The Duststaff, Dustbolter, and Dustin Pedroia.

Then they'll just include chaos rhinos, predators, demolishers, and land raiders to fill out them pages.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

This is the biggest thing for me to be honest, I'm really hoping that this is a flag for a Black Legion style supplement. If there was a codex/supplement, the things I'd really be looking for are a rules update for rubrics, some kind of sorcerer cabal/cult, some cool wargear, and maybe some kind of large sorcerer unit (like Pink Horrors except Space Marines and better).

The melee variant will be called "Dustbringers." The Tzaangor cultists will come out but they'll be called "Dustchildren."

This is gold.

Maybe Eternal Warrior for rubric termies or even marines.

Not likely. Eternal Warrior is for heroes. It's pretty rare in badguy factions.

I hope that they'll get a price drop and better rules, as well as some cult Termies. TS really deserve more love.

Yeah, it was straw grasping. it will be interesting to see what happens to the point cost. Is that the major deal for not a lot of 1000 Sons play on the board currently?

I like the idea of 2 wounds to demonstrate a little more resilience even though they have good saves. Also heavy weapon options to make a benefit out of Slow and Purposeful as someone mentioned.

I am excited about possible beastmen to replace cultists as hoards.
