Hi all,

Here is (I think if I attached it properly!) a WIP shot of my terminator chaplain. He is a Finecast model that I got as part of a bundle from a well known bidding site. He had a pretty bad paint job when I got him so I started by stripping off the paint carefully with some Dettol, then spraying him with chaos black.

I have not yet highlighted any of the armour, I wanted to first focus on the bone areas. I decided to darken the shade of the chest with Earth Shade as the Sepia wash was a little too faint for my liking, I am considering doing the same for the loin cloth.

Comments welcome.

My favorite sculpt/model! Its kind of what influenced me to get into 40K years ago. Looking good so far... can't wait for more pics of progress.

I would go for the Earthshade as well.

I was able to work on him for a few hours this evening. Started on the gold areas, I undercoated with Leadbelcher and then with Balthasar Gold. I also made a start on the terminator honours shoulder pad. I did go with darkening the bone / scroll areas with Earthshade.

I noticed that the Crozius Arcanum is a little bent, does anyone have any tips to gently straighten it (it's Finecast).

cheers!

Here is another update on my terminator chaplain. I feel this is a better shot than previous photos. I've continued to work on the gold areas and started highlighting the armour. I used Eshin Grey for the highlights but I feel that was too dark so may go straight to Dawnstone.

I am really enjoying working on this model, I usually struggle to get motivated to paint but I can't wait to see this guy complete, still a way to go yet!

The loincloth is a scroll I believe, I wouldn't go too dark on it, also you could add some lines of text (although this can be difficult to get right)
The model is looking great so far.

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

It would have been better to unbend it prior to painting but you can CAREFULLY dip the crozius is some very hot water and then lightly bending back. Repeat at necessary. A little at a time is the best. Bend too much and you can break it. It will get nice and soft when it heats up.
