Fellow Dakka users, I give you MatHammer 1.0, an Excel file that is the perfect solution to permanently fix your persistent math hammer obsession.

EDIT : I noticed some glitch that I corrected in a newer version. But I won't bother to upload it unless specifically asked for it since this topic, to say kindly, hasn't gone viral lol.

It's still in its beta version, but as of now, it takes account of Initiative during close combat phase (i.e. takes into account that you may be killed before getting the chance to strike back), if you charged or not, unit size, if your susceptible to Insta Death or losing FNP due to Strenght>=2*Toughness, Fear (and Fearless), and most of the BRB special rules.

It doesn't work with vehicles yet, and some special rules are still not functional (they are included in the Excel Sheet but won't have any effect whether they are activated or not). Notably :

- Hammer of Wrath
- Rending
- Master Crafted
- Preferred Enemy

See the "What needs to be done" Worksheet for more details

It's really easy to use, you just need to add the Unit values in the appropriate cell.

For non-numerical values, 1=Yes and 0=No (for example, if your unit causes Fear, just put 1 in the appropriate cell).

E in bold means it's the expected value of what's between the ()

P in bold means it's the probability of what's between the ()

Any input would be appreciated, if you notice something doesn't work as intended (please do look in the "What needs to be done" worksheet to be sure it's not included), please notify me. I'd also be interested in someone who's really good in VBA so that we could combine units on each side and that it would work for subsequent rounds. PM me for more info.

The only way I know how to share it is via dropbox. If someone knows of an easier way, please let me know.

Important : I've spent a lot of hours on this, if you want to share it, go for it, I just expect that no one takes credit for my work.

I refuse to touch VBA but I made basically this with more focus on vehicles (by virtue of being a treadhead) and less on close combat in Perl for use as a website, but never polished it enough to present publicly.

If you're willing to work with that i'd be happy to oblige - i've also got some long term webhosting assets as a consequence of $work.

That being said, would you be so good as to save it as an older format (e.g. office 2000 version of excel) - I dunno what you've put in it but it crashes every time I open it

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

I just saved it in the 97-03 Excel format, but it warned me that they may be some compatibility issues (something to do with ''nesting'' which I have no idea of what it could mean). At first glance, it still seemed to work fine but I can't guarantee that the results will be valid. I'll look more into it later.

I read it as Matt hammer -making 40k great again, and was very disgusted. It's nice to be wrong.

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.
