Hey Boyz!

Just trying to "Iron" out my FW dreadnaught army list. C&C appreciated. This isn't meant to be super competetive, but a lot of fun. I'd like your thoughts anyway. I havent actually bought these models yet, I want to make sure it's a legal list before I fork out the cash.
I have 19 points left over. What should I get to fill out the points? A couple of HK missiles on the Ironclads? Some special weapons on the bikes? Or maybe some more wargear for the techmarines? Armoured Ceramite on one of the Deredeos?
Tactics wise it's pretty self explainitory. The bikes are pretty much just there to fill our troops choices and protect the Techmarines while they zoom around repairing dreads on a 3+.
The Deredeos can take a TL Hvy Bolter or a TL Hvy Flamer. Im thinking I might put flamers on them to defend against stuff that gets close.
I'd like to get another Aiolos missile launcher but Id need to drop the Ironstone I think.
I see this list having serious trouble with AV14 and large blobs of close combat troops.

HQ

Techmarine - 140
w/ Bike, Servo Harness. Ironstone

Techmarine - 110

TROOPS

Bike squads are usually in the fast attack section. I'm not certain, but I don't believe iron hands chapter tactics allows them to be troops. How have you done this?

A HQ on a bike in the marine codex swaps their unit type to troops

Also I would be inclined to swap one Deredeo Dread to a leviathan as those things can go toe to toe with an IK meaning they can be pretty effective at knocking out heavily armoured targets

why Lucius drop pods on the Deredeos ? These guys should be in your back field shooting at range..you don't want them too close. They aren't great in Combat.

Also I agree with Sqauwky..get a Leviathan in there with the 2 close combat weapons/cerimite and Lucious Pod. Even spent the points on the upgrade (istvan 111 I think) that prevents scatter.
Also the IronClads are better with Chainfists so they can chew into tanks.

2 flamers on IronClads are good vs Blobs
Chainfists are good vs AV14

with extra points put specials on the bikes. relentless gravguns is awesome.

Like Sqauwky said, taking a bike on a HQ allows bike squads to be taken as TROOPS.

My understanding of the drop pod rules is that 1/2 of your pods come down on turn 1. The rest as reserves. Having 6 pods gets me all 3 deredoes guarunteed turn 1. By podding the deredoes down turn 1, they can shoot as normal and get a bit of protection. That way theyre not just sitting in the open all by themselves turn 1. I'd be landing them in nice spots for long range camping.

Updated list.

I've swapped one of the Anvilus Deredoes for a Leviathan. Had to remove pods from the Deredeos to free up points. Added a missile launcher to the plasma deredeo. Given the Ironclads 2 flamers and a chainfist.

Removed the Ironstone in favour of a single grav gun on each bike squad. My thinking was that the bike squads would be avoiding combat as much as possible. Maybe having the Ironstone giving 4+IWND right from the start would be better than grav guns. Especially now theyre not podding in.

So now I have 4 drop pod dreads and 2 starting on the field. My worry now is that I only have 2 models that have over 24" range.

With the 19 points left over I can give the Leviathan a melta lance, or armoured ceramite. Or a couple of HK missiles on the Ironclads.

Another thought I had is the Ironclads essentially fill the same role as the CC Leviathan. For 1/2 the points.
I'm leaning toward keeping the 3rd deredeo, for more ranged firepower.

I do absolutely love the leviathan model and rules though.

drop pod rules are rounding up. so 3 pods gets 2 down on turn 1. 5 pods gets 3 down on turn 1 etc. always go with odd numbers on pods.

Your deredeo's starting on the field shouldn't be an issue with your combat dreads podding in on turn 1

That leviathan needs a Lucious drop pod. so 50 points. you have 19 left. take one flamer per ironclad off. that nets you 39 points.

I would give the Leviathan a Lucius pod and the contemptor a normal Pod. I wish you could grab 30 more points for a 5th pod so you can drop the Leviathan and 2 Ironclads in your opponents face. maybe make both Deredeos the same for 220 pts ?

3 big Dreads plus 2 Deredeos shooting is nothing to sneeze at.

Just watch out for Grav..they can ruin your day.

At this point I would play a few games with something like this before you spend a lot of money on all these forgeworld dreads... proxy a few games

Hey Boyz!

I've been tinkering with this list, trying to see what fits in 1500, 1850 and 2000 points. This one came out bang on 1500. Thoughts?

HQ

Techmarine /w Servo Harness, Ironstone
120

ELITE

Contemptor Mortis Dread w/ 2x Kheres, Cyclone ML
235

Contemptor Mortis Dread w/ 2x Kheres, Cyclone ML
235

TROOPS

5 Scouts w/ Camo
65

5 Scouts w/ Camo
65

HEAVY

Deredeo Dread w/ Anvilus AC, Aiolos ML, TL Hvy Bolter
220

Deredeo Dread w/ Anvilus AC, Aiolos ML, TL Hvy Bolter
220

Relic Leviathan Dread w/ Siege Claw, Seige Drill, 2x Hvy Flamers, 2x Meltaguns, Lucius Drop Pod
340

1500 pts total.

So yeah, the idea is to get as many awesome dreads in as small a points limit as possible.
Tactics wise, either all 4 walking dreads will walk up the board under 4+ IWND bubble from the Techie while the Leviathan drops in to smash face / distract from the walkers.
Or, the Deredeos hang back in cover with the scouts and techie while the Contemptors walk up. Depends on who I'm fighting.

Also, I'm planning on magnetising all the dread weapons, so I'll be able to swap out when I need to. Ie. Drop the Aiolos and Anvilus on a Deredeo in favour of Plasma Cannonade if I know I'm facing lots of termies.

Thoughts? C&C? I appreciate the input.

Cheers from the Jakman

Guys, just run a siege assault vanguard. it grants iron clads to be troops, As well, you get a ton of other good stuff. Plus contemptors as elites. Ally for a levi dread in a CAD
