Using nearly every mantic redbrick battlezone tile I have to make a large 2x2' factory to be the center (or off-center) piece for a post apocalypse board for TNT. Going well, lot of work and the clips can be frustrating but I'm getting places.

Picked up my profits from the Campaign MK bring & buy (and took home the Tomorrow's War rulebook/cards again - can't seem to shift it).

Then finished these two off. The gyroplane was clearly made using the wrong resin mix and was quite rubbery so the supplied rotors were unusable. 2 bikes and a trike left before the core box is done.

On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

This last week or so, I've been on a mission to finish up hobby victims of my, at times, epic procrastination...or hobby ADD...I can never figure out which! Over the weekend, hobby time was spent finishing up a unit of Empire Greatswords, Ogre Kingdoms Iron Blaster and a Mordheim Witch Hunter Warband. Yeah, I know, all over the place...

Painted my first Sister of Battle today. I've had them for a couple years now (a lot of them were from ebay and had paint from their previous owners).

Was easier than I'd been fearing! Looking forward to maybe getting the rest done at some point (but I really should finish my Romans for Hail Caesar. I think a league is starting soon...)

I'm on a podcast about (video) game design:

Finished my grav Cannons. Sometimes I regret painting as school. But some of my bets models have been done here so IDK.
Sometimes I wish I didnt choose white scares as my first army. Seemed simple right? Just spray them white, do the details, and boom. your good. but as I progress in my painting I realize how wrong I was.

Spending tonight cutting out 25x50 and 20x20mm bases from 3mm plywood for my Kings of War project. 15mm scale figures, with a basic Troop being 3 figures wide on a base, like Mighty Empires or Hordes of the Things, so that you can rank them up to make Regiments and Hordes. Individuals on foot go on 20mm's.

Laser-cut would be awesome, but didn't want to wait the 2 weeks for Litko to cut them for me, so I bought enough plywood for all the bases I will ever need at Hobby Lobby for 5.99 and a couple night's efforts (a 3-pack of sheets, with each sheet making about 50 25x50mm bases).

Today I finally finished putting together my last unassembled Tyranid model: a third mawloc. I bought way too many models at the same time, but I got sucked into some great deals on amazon, and I bought four deathstorm boxes from GW when they first came out. So no regrets there. Also, I made a ton of conversions, that I will be posting on here when I get a chance. I'm actually very proud of them. I've always been a big fan of kitbashing and converting.

Now it's time to get started painting. That's what I will be doing for the next 6 to 14 months.

Between work and school (about a year away from finishing my bachelor's in computer science), time is definitely not on my side. I haven't played a game in 4 or 5 months, and I am starting a new job in a couple of weeks, which will be even more demanding on my time (but a heck of a lot more money, and dramatically better benefits than I am getting now, so no complaints).

As much as I miss playing, I still enjoy the hobby aspects. I find building and painting very relaxing. A wonderful escape. But I would be lying if I said I wasn't going through withdraws from not getting a game or two in a week, or at least a month.

I'm looking forward to getting my 'Nids painted up. I just hope I have enough discipline to not buy another army until this one is complete.

Yeah right!

The good news is that I got two more bikes for my Hauls Angels faction completed. The bad (?) news is that the rest of the KS shipment arrived today so I have an entire new faction to start work on now.

I'm getting ready for a 1500 point tournament tomorrow. Gonna switch out the Tau from my army bag for Dark Angels after 3 months playing Tau. That's the nice thing about having 3 armies; I can switch it up now and then! I'll probably post a quick summary or batrep (depending on how good/bad it goes) either on this thread, my blog, or in the 40k Battle Reports section.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 12 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

This is something that I've often thought of doing...then I take a nap and forget about it.

Think I'm going to finish a box of Sisters of Slaughter (wife is starting Dark Elves) and in between frustrating lithe elf bodies I'm going to work on getting my Stormcast together.

Might prime some stuff too.

At a Place, Making Dolls Great Again

A Dwarf army that was never intended to be a Dwarf Army (originally gotten, consisting mostly of 6th ed multi part plastics to be a Chaos Squat army, the rest were tossed aside for either trade or future ideas. I disliked 6th ed 40k so the army went into a box, then I got the idea to use them as zombies, but the idea took too much work, as I didn't have the parts to convert them and greenstuffing would have taken too long, in my mind, so I assembled them as Dwarves and got to painting).

Sorting and cleaning my miniatures after significant break from the modeling hobby. Some of my ork boyz and meks didn't take the move and storage to well . I got some repairs and repaints to do. I still have Chaos and Eldar to check on as well. My khador warjacks did just fine.

I am still excited to get back into the hobby. Waaaggghhh on ya gits!
