I was waiting to use my 250th thread topic for something big, and well, this is around the 3rd biggest model FW sells for the Imperium so may as well use this thread to help with my recent purchase of my new Warhound Titan. I got the titan off of a friend for near half-price and though I have a ton of other things I been meaning to get I couldn't let this opportunity pass. he painted it basecoats for me and everything! so the paint-scheme has been started and it is mostly built in it's sections, all I gotta do now is figure out a way to magnetize the weapons and the upper torso. The pink thing on his back foot is a small little wedge I made so that all his body weight isn't going on his toes and can be spread around more without need of a base. I am still trying to figure out how I will magnetize this however, and another problem is that I'm fairly poor big purchases aside, and do not have the correct drill bits and magnets readily available. the question now is what kind of bits I should use for the family dremmel. I seen something online but I do not know how the process would be with the ball-joints in the sockets instead of the guns, and I do not know how to attach the lower-half to the upper half without being afraid it will topple over. I am almost thinking a plastic dowel or pvc pipe, but that is a process for after I get the correct drill... any thoughts / help?

I magnetised my Warhound and Reaver weapons, I would strongly recommend attaching the arm to the weapon permanently and magnetising the arm/body joint. It's a flat area so easy to drill and magnetise. I went with a rather broad "just drill the gak out of it" method as the area won't be visible, once the magnet is secure I used putty to smooth the joint over and give a bit of protection to the magnet.
Please note however that I did that on the old Lucius Warhound, your Mars one may differ.
As for the base, I doubt you'd need a wedge or support, both my titans are in similar poses and I've never had a problem with the toes.
The waist joint I did with a simple bit of brass rod, drill through the Techpriest's compartment into the waist and simply glue the rod in, allowing the upper body to pivot and rotate.
Looks good so far, looking forward for updates

Thanks! The arm joints are already in place unfortunately, and i have a horrible track record in pulling stuff out and the like. do you have a recommendation for the opposite then?

Alright may have found some magnets that would work for the arms:
http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D84
1/2 x 1/4th ing rare earth magnets.
or I could get the 3/8ths magnets as shown here: http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SD64-IN&cat=10
I still need to get a drill but these would work on the arms if I get 4 of them right now, may bump it up to 6 if I get two more arms someday.
I'm probably going to get two dill bits, one 3/8ths and one 1/2 inch for everything I could use, but i'm still not sure. my plan is to drill into the ball joint upwards and glue one inside the ball, while the other drills into the gun, allowing it to still be on the ball without much hassle.

That looks around the same size magnets I used. I'd also recommend drilling a fair bit deeper than the magnet depth and creating space for putty surrounding the magnet to provide a snug fit and protecting the magnets themselves.

I know it's almost been a week but I wanted to share the little stuff I did for prep.
I managed to get a Forstner bit by itself in order to make clean holes in my titan, just now trying to work up courage to start drilling. In the pic I also got a wooden dowel to pin the torso in place. It would go in the middle legs and be held in place with apoxy or something, while the torso would just have a hole in it to put the dowel in, allowing it to rotate and still be taken apart.
Other news the wedge works wonders on the tabletop- especially with hills. made it much much more stable and able to move around with only scotch tape in place, but it still worked well in keeping it upright.
Oh, and also got two games under my belt with it, the first one against necrons and the second against space marines.
game one the titan killed a tesseract-vault in turn one while using a flamestorm and a plasma blastgun, while slowly killing infantry one block at a time. The flamestorm is awesome, but forced me to get super close.
game two my titan got killed by bolters. my opponent brought a ton of space marines, primus marines and a redeemer dread with a gatling, and he stole the initiative. took 7 wounds on turn one and it was all downhill from there... But I did learn that the vulcan-bolter is very much worth taking. The plasma blastgun however, not so much. the random shots really hurt it, and while str 8 I would prefer something stronger. If i'm shooting two guns I want to ensure that I kill two things completely after all... so now I'm thinking about purchasing a flamestorm and a turbo-laser so I have mostly everything...
hell maybe a another vulcan if I gots the money.

Alright! Finally Drilled a pinning hole in my warhound. Had my dad help hold it, and in the process only two tow toes and one leg joint fell off! overall a good fixing was needed, which I then did. The dowel was a special pain to fix up and get to the correct length, but after a little filing and adjustments I was able to glue it into place and it works fairly well at keeping the torso up! only bad part is the front is just elevated a little more than normal, but it isn't too big of a deal.
now, All I need to fix are the weapons, which may take a few months due to lack of money and school starting soon. also will probably need to rethink my idea, but so far the plan is to still hollow out the ball-joints and put the magnets there and in the arm... which may also change in the future.
For now though, I really like how my planned worked!
