So, a quick introduction: I am Gimli_219, an undergraduate college student, and a long time 40k player. As of writing this post, I have an ~11,000 points of 40k mechanicus, and 30k mechanicum, my forge logicatum, which is about 50% painted. I have also recently started a small 2,000 point force of Dark Eldar, The Abyssal Raiders. This blog will feature my progress in completing the painting of both of these forces. I am a very poor painter, but am trying to improve, so C&C is welcome. Side note: my picture quality isn't that great, as my painting/photography station is the same as my college desk.

A question for you all, If I was to mimic the Dark Eldar writing style, which language should I use for the base upon which to add some embellishments. My initial thoughts were Japanese calligraphy.

Update # 2, the second and third of my jetbikes, fully completed and ready to be added to the force! Thank you Bunnygirl and Ynneadwraith, the comments are appreciated. For my next model, should we add a few Skitarii Hoplites to the painted pile? or a Razorwing Jetfighter?

Skitarii or Dark Eldar? Not sure which to pick

Japanese calligraphy is what I usually go to for Dark Eldar runes.

Eldar runes from all cultures (and also in a neat piece of connected thought, Slaaneshi runes) seem to follow a similar basic structure. They've got a central geometric shape (triangles for eldar, and circles for Slaanesh). Circular curved shapes, and wilder less ordered geometry seems to denote a more excessive concept, so Craftworlders tend to have very ordered structural shapes whereas Dark Eldar tend to be more free-form (like calligraphy).

I also like to think that their runes reflect their mentalities somewhat, with Craftworlders meticulously ensuring that each form they produce is perfectly ordered, while Dark Eldar write in an almost frenzied way with big swooshing tails and slashed lines.

Just my 2p anyway

Another update, coming from the middle of finals week, This time it will be showing my previously completed Adeptus Mechanicus forces, in order to catch you all up on the army as it stands currently. The forge logicatum is my primary army, and has seen the most development in its painting quality throughout its growth. As it stands, the army consists of 30k and 40k and a good many points. It will continue to expand, as I still adore the models. Now, to pictures!

@comradepanda, I'm planning to paint one army when I get bored of painting the other army... Lord knows I have enough models to paint.
