Hey guys!
I've been out the hobby a long time, but I got back into it last year because I was really missing painting and modeling. I've been slowly working on some Drukhari and basically teaching myself how to paint again. Most of them are a WIP, some of them have weird hair on them from the storage case (and possibly cat) and the vehicles are a bit dusty due to being on a shelf (even after a dusting!).
A couple of the warriors have orange bases, I'm going to try and go for a lava/molten rock type of effect. I'm kinda of picturing Mustafar in my head.
Any and all feedback is very welcome but be kind, I'm essentially new to the hobby again

Welcome back. What's making your guys come out shiny?

It's a mix of the final wash I give them, and the light I used for the pics. They arent quite as shiny in person
I wanted to give them a kind of oily/sooty look to go along with lava planet base idea, but I definitely went too heavy with first couple of attempts.

Try photographing them with a white background with light sources closer to the miniatures. A curved piece of white paper makes a cheap, decent backdrop to reflect light forward and reduce shadows.

I'll give this a try next time I'm taking pics, thanks!
