If they are supposed to be fighting along with Iron Warriors, I think the scheme is very good. If not, I'd remove the warning stripes and replace them with chaos star or the symbol of the legion they are affiliated with or something.
Also, in my humble opinion, painting the gun stock in light brown/beige (wood) will look a bit better. Giving them a bit of light-brown or sand/beige drybrush over the clothes will too, same as white or gray over the gun and armor.
Also, the traitor guard is rarely well organized and equipped, so if you can (and want), you can suggest your friend to get some different heads, guns or body parts and mismatch them a bit.

Ill let him know about the miss matched bits idea. Also nit a very good free hand painter so no idea how to do other options other than the stripes.

Stripes look good, at least from the photos. No problem here. The entire color scheme is fitting well. It's pleasant to see a fitting chaos scheme that does not include red color.
I'm just saying that hazard stripes and metallic colors are a "trademark" of the Iron Warriors Legion, so people might connect these two very often.

Or, you can handwave it away by creating a backstory for them that explains why these particular renegades are rather 'preppy'.
In an infinite universe, there must necessarily be a planet populated by nothing but biro pens, after all.

In general, I like it, but I too am not a fan of the hazard-striping. It's too strong, too in your face and overpowers the rest of the mini. IMO.
One more of us, one less of them.

If they are aligned to either IW, AL or Bloodpact then their equipment is standardized though. Altough you will find individual marks and trinkets on them aswell as loot and spoils.

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH. |

One of the things about Traitor Guard is they can have all kinds of backstory.
Might be appropriate to keep the Imperial Eagles if they have only recently gone Renegade. I've been using my Cadian army as Renegades for a while now, claiming they're aligned with Alpha Legion and their deep programming just kicked in.
Might be appropriate to tack on some Chaos bits if they've been doing this for a while. I've also done up a couple squads that are all warped-out, using toothpick ends for spikes all over the models.
But let the backstory be your guide.
